You're talking about me. Seriously--"neener-neener-boo-boo?"

Do I think the democrats are focusing on this with everything they have to make an impact on the election--absolutely--and the republicans are handing them the gun, loading it, and pointing it at their own heads. I think a bunch of middled aged R men got together at ALEC and decided that this would be the next "lets get the religious right to vote!" issue. It worked great with illegal immigrants...we can call this religious freedom and wrap it in the flag so we won't call attention to the fact that we have crappy candidates this round. As I said earlier, Rush calling Fluke horrible names for three days managed to bring the attention of the entire country to the issues. You can't blame the D's for that.

If it would have been just the issue of businesses run by churches (churches are exempt) having contraception on their health care plans it might have worked. The problem comes in when you start adding in the personhood amendments (18 states--declares life at the moment of fertiliizaton, banning in vitro fertilization, the IUD and the pill and all abortion), ultrasound bills (requires a medically unnecessary ultrasound, some of them transvaginal, prior to an abortion), the fight to end the violence against women act, etc.

You can accuse the democrats of using these issues for political gain all you want--that's exactly what they're doing--but it doesn't change the fact the the republicans are introducing them, and they upset most moderate voters. It's like purposefully breaking curfew as a kid, and then blaming everyone else when you get in trouble with mom.

And you think I'm the one with my fingers in my ears saying "neener-neener-neener?" I think you'd best take a look in the mirror...

The anti-Fluke crowd don't let facts get in the way of all the arguments they choose to invent.

Honestly, I've not seen an issue so falsified and warped as this one in quite a while.

It's like the evil Queen spending 3 days chewing out Snow White about oranges and orange groves and orange juice and the value of frozen concentrated orange juice on the commodity market.... all the while Snow White is standing there holding an apple.

You are conflating two seperate issues. The state issues you describe are pushed by conservatives. The contraception issue is pushed by the hardcore left. The contraception issue was a fight initiated by Obama, a fight he knows he most likely will lose, for political advantage. He should be tossed from office by voters for such a cynical move, on principle alone.

I think Obama pushed the contraception issue in insurance because he knew it would flush out the religious right extremists (it did) and bring attention to the legislation that R's are introducing in state houses across the country in a coordinated way (it did). Rick Santorum's comments on rape and birth control, and Rush's three day rant was thicky, gooey icing on the cake. He out maneuvered the R's--that doesn't take away from the fact that the very far right end of the party is doing exactly what the democrats are accusing them of doing.

great analogy!

See, the Repugs hate and fear women and can only fight them (their enemy)with slander and ridicule since now laws prevent them from beating/branding/slaughtering/raping them....( a BIG disappointment to Repugs).

It happened to the women who simply wanted to vote!

So Repugs refuse to accept the facts.

Vilifying and controlling women is their main platform.

Might be a good time to invest in big pharma and insurance companies. Think of all the money they are going to make. Hope big pharma can keep up with the supply because it looks like there is a big demand. And insurance, oh boy,,,definitely some money to be made there! Buy stocks now in makers of birth control and insurance companies!

Obama pushed the contraceptive issue to excite his base, they haven't had much to be excited about. They are an anti religious bunch. He tried to tap into it before and was slapped down by the SCOTUS, as he is likely to be again. Obama couldn't care less about contraception or womans health. He is interested in getting re elected. Fortunately the American people aren't easily fooled. His approval ratings are lower now than when he started his attack on religious freedom,

And don't forget the specialty of Democrats is to play class warfare against the people that do well, they want to never cut back on the government unions that give them hundreds of millions and being society can't sustain it the government finds ways to confiscate your wealth to pay for it's utopia that keeps them voting Democrat. It is what they do. It is what needs to be voted out of existence.
Are you seriously suggesting that Republicans, the anti-poor, anti-immigrant, anti-intellectual, anti-woman, everyone left of Reagan is a commie party, don't engage in class warfare?
Seriously?

Her credentials are well known and were clearly referenced in her introduction. As an organization leader, she has access to advocacy and policy information and the personal experiences of her members and those affected by reproductive health policies. No big secret mission here.

Are you irritated that bone fide issues advocates are invited to testify before Congress? That seems like a weird stance given that this is how testimony works. I have testified myself as an employee of an advocacy association, representing our members.
To these people activist = radical!!!!
