God forbid we should find some overwhelming evidence to support Zimmerman.
Had Zimmerman stayed in his car, they'd both be alive. And Zimmerman wouldn't be bankrupting his family with an all but inevitable murder/manslaughter trial.
He's a neighborhood watch captain...why should he have to stay in his car?
If what the witness says is true, there will likely be no trial and it's probably the reason the police didn't arrest him on the spot.
Self defense. The kid was beating on him, according to the witness.

Nothing is inevitable. The Sanford PD is standing by their refusal to arrest Zimmerman as recently as today. DOJ is impotent in regards to the hate crime charges. I'm going out on a limb but Zimmerman won't be charged when all is said and done. Considering the furor this case is generated I;m assuming the powers that be would love nothing more than to arrest Zimmerman. They haven't because they can't.
However his life has been forever altered. He may have to move to his mother's country of Peru to resume a normal life.
Here's the thing. We have established two facts already. They are pretty basic:
1. Trayvon Martin is dead.
2. George Zimmerman killed him.
These facts are not disputed. So the prosecution does not have to go about proving the normal case of "beyond a shadow of a reasonable doubt." Whenever the "self-defense" defense is invoked, the burden flips to the defendant to prove that he was justified in the commission of a murder. Zimmerman will have a hard time, I think, proving that the murder was justified by a "preponderance of the evidence."
I agree. He should absolutely be arrested and tried.
I don't understand why folks are dismissing this witness? This report was filed less than 24 hours after the killing and weeks before the national media storm. To date this is the most credible witness in the story. His story backs up the scene as described in the police report.

If the evidence supports Zimmerman, so be it. But you basically have to admit to being the biggest punk that at 28 and 250lbs you can't fend off a 17 year old 140lb kid to the point that you need to blast him in the chest.
You also have to accept responsibilty that you initiated the ultimate chain of events by engaging Trayvon.
I'm not a lawyer, but it's fairly easy to paint a picture of a socially frustrated man who wanted to be a cop, a big man, who ad accomplished little in his life and was a bit trigger happy.
If they find that Trayvon had a knife, a gun, nunchucks or really, really sharp nails that constituted a mortal threat, case goes to Zimmerman.
Zimmerman wasn't be as badly as he would've been in an average Boston bar fight.
This did not occur at 2AM. The police report is attached. Go through it and you'll see the facts. The time of the event is significant compared with your assertion that the shooting occurred at 2 AM. You're pretty over emotional about this.
Apparently the time of the incident is irrelevant. People are just saying 2am because it sounds good.
