I can truly understand your statement here, i really do, but I suppose it would be hard to agree with that when you find out your young child has been kidnapped, brutally raped and sodomized, torturted and then brutally murdered, sometimes dismembered or buried alive -
I don't doubt that, and I hope I never have to go through that. My hope is that no one would. Still, that's the beauty and burden of America. Even the most despicable deserves a trial. After that? To the wolves, as far as I'm concerned.
It's what makes us great. Without it, we'd be animals. As unlikely as our thirst for justice (or at least revenge) may make it seem, there's always a likelihood of a mistaken identity or a false accusation or some other circumstance. We must retain our decency even when others are without a shred of it.
