OK, I'm jumping in a bit late here, but what do you think liberals do? They tell you to put on your seat belt, wear a helmet, you can't carry a gun, you can't smoke, you shouldn't drink, it's ok to be an illegal alien, it's ok to be a criminal (don't worry, we'll make you better), it's ok not to have a job, it's ok to get free food, it's ok to have free housing, it's ok to have free health care, what the hell.........we'll enable you and your whole family for generations to come because we're just plain peachy. Oh, and by the way, the rest of you can pay for this to happen. Sounds good, eh?

I saw a bumper sticker the other day and it said:

"If you get any closer I'll flick a booger on your windshield!"

Hmmm. Let's analyze this one next.

Jesus is neither liberal or conservative. He's Jesus. This arguement is about as dumb as the one about what car he would be driving. Pah-leeze.

I would take the logical next step to say that no body of political thought (i.e. conservatism or liberalism) is in and of itself more godlike or more religious.

The question is whether Jesus would be a conservative or a liberal today. This is answered by examining a few hot button issues that liberals support.

■ Liberal academics explain origins through evolution. Jesus explained it by the
Creator. Liberals are pro-homosexuality. Jesus was not pro-homosexuality.

■ Liberals believe in government handouts as the solution to poverty. Jesus said that people should work and take care of themselves.

■ Liberals are about killing the unborn. Jesus said the unborn are the creation of God.

■ Liberals deny and mock God’s word. Jesus said that his word would live forever.

■ Liberals believe that a lie is justified by the good they imagine will come of it. Jesus said that a man is to live by truth in all things.

■ Liberal socialism believes that government is God. Jesus said that he is God.

■ Liberal policy denies the use of natural resources. Jesus said God gave us resources to use.

What is very ironic is that most of those who sling the “Jesus is a liberal” slogan probably don’t even believe in God, much less in the divinity of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Rather, this statement is used as a club to attempt to shame Christian conservatives into silence, especially on the social issues of our time. The thinking goes that liberals are closer to the example Jesus set, simply because they favor more income redistribution (“welfare”) by the government. Their specious logic tells them that they are more compassionate than are conservatives, simply because the latter believe that charity for the downtrodden should:

Come from private rather than public sources
Be accompanied by a plan to return recipients to a productive role whenever possible.

I'd say the point from the statement is...... Jesus doesn't claim the road to Heaven is free or easy, how about a liberal?

I once compiled a list of comments of Jesus about the rich. I should really find that again. He also kicked the moneychangers/usurers from the temple. American right-wingers have a fundamental disconnect between the politics and ethics they advocate and then their need to pronounce themselves Christians. You cannot legitimately call yourself something if you cannot accept the fundamentals of that belief system. In short, they just don't want to end in an eternal rec room watching Leave It To Beaver re-runs, so they pay lip service to Christianity.

Not being a liberal how would you know what a liberal believes or thinks?

You have only you misguided perceptions and distorted views.

Jesus had no problem with the rich. Unless the money was stolen or gained by some other immoral means.

Look at his birth. The 3 most expensive gifts on earth at the time were given to him. No mention of anyone having a problem with this.

The eye of the needle guy he told to give up his wealth was a lawyer/politician and acquired his money by writing laws favorable to him. In other words, he stole the money. Why people cannot comprehend this I will never know.
