I'd like some opinions here. Do you think the "One Drop Rule" still applies here in the U.S.?

-And if not who is Black here in America?

-Can person classified as "Black" choose to be "White" if he/she has enough Causasian blood?

-Any why are people who have heavy amounts of Black ancestry (think carbbean hispanics) not viewed as Black but as White?

Thank you in advance for your replies.

How about this: Categorize your race however you want. Most people don't care.

Live and let live.

I really don't get this question. People are what they are - black, white, bi-racial, tri-racial, multi-racial, etc., in a thousand different proportions. Let race be whatever it is and focus on things that really matter like culture, religion, values and so forth.

I understand that. However throughout most of the 20th century people in America with any known African Ancestry were consider Black. It's only been in recent years that they have been considered biracial or mulitracial. So the question stands. How is blackness preceived today?

Well, that's a peculiarly American 19th-20th century mistake. I blame Protestantism. Historically, an aberration.

In America, most black people and a surprising number of white people are multiracial.

As to how this is perceived, I have to go with indifferently.

You shoud put that blame on the bold face lie called White supremacy.

Sure, but from whence comes White Supremacy? Protestantism with its emphasis on the Jewish racialism of the old testament, combined with 19th century Darwinism - a toxic mix.
