Rich people are generally smarter and more disciplined.

Many people have moved between the classes over the history of America.

Nobody is saying we need to redistribute wealth to make everyone middle class, but we are saying give poor people the same chances.
Children in third world countries wish they had schools like they have in California, where CA taxpayers lavish $7,500 per student, only to see the kids drop out before graduating.

So are more people getting dumber or working less hard? That would explain wage stagnation...except that education levels have risen and the number of hours that the average American works (across income) has increased.

At my nephew's school in Yorba Linda, they fund raise to gain more for their children. Also parents pay for tutors. There are more IB/AP classes. The third world is even poorer, but as you can see we aren't talking about global disparities. If we were, you would be proving my point...only on a macro level.

In America, we have just enough people getting by OK to blame everyone else for their stagnant paychecks and poor job prospects. Class mobility is pretty rock bottom in this country as a result. We love to point the finger and place the blame on the disadvantaged, and for some reason, people get a jolly out of kicking people when they are down. It's only unfair when something bad happens to them

obviously you only know the reality of yourself, its not about how long you work but how much you are getting paid per hour/year. what good is working 60 hours if you make min wage at mcdonalds or picking fruit in a field?

wow, OP makes a few salient points.

Everyone should aspire to be like Mitt, who is surely going to heaven . What a role model for our kids.

Mitt Romney is a man who became rich by causing financial pain to families. His company, Bain Capital, destroyed companies and cost thousands of people their jobs so a few rich people could get richer. Mitt Romney could care less about the middle class in America as long as his bank account gets fatter.
Mitt doesn’t care about this man and he doesn’t care about you. If you aren’t rich, you don’t count as a person to Mitt Romney.
Even Newt Gingrich, says Mitt Romney is a liar. That’s pretty bad.

Greedy Republicans

Not really. Your idea of discipline and hard work is just different.

If a rich person makes 10% on his millions he makes millions if a poor person makes 100% on nothing he still makes nothing.
