While technically true, the speech does nothing other than to try to inject a collectivist mindset into the American psyche. Since promoting collectivism has always been anti-American, it's safe to assume the thesis for his speech was anti-American. But then again, it's Obama speaking so...

You're right. The internet was never envisioned by the innovators as a way of making money. But, I was also speaking about the interstate system for trucking. While the interstate system was initially meant for easier military vehicle movement, it had to have been realized at its inception that it would facilitate interstate trade a lot easier than the US highway system.
As more and more people opt to become wage slaves than owning a small business (life's a lot easier when you can just turn off the creative side of your brain and just accept a paycheck every other week), this mentality will unfortunately sink in too well with these people. I'm always reminded that the free market is more powerful than any government influence, but recent events force me to question that supposed axiom at times.
Yes Obama, there are a lot of people out there working hard and while some do succeed and others fail, there are also those who actually do work harder than others to get to where they are. But what would you know about that? You want everything to be "equal". And we all know while yes you are POTUS, just what the hell did you do that was so great in your life? What the hell were your accomplishments besides community organizing (aka telling others how they should run things, etc)? Youve done jack squat.

You (among others) have a very backwards way of thinking how countries operate. Countries don't just start off with roads, rails, postal systems, school systems, armies, financial institutions, universities, etc. They are built and maintained over many generations. Everyone one has contributed through some form of tax or through force (slavery), of course more than others, and the result of this "collectiveness" is America folks. You folks are so blinded by hate for Obama and liberals that you forgot how America was built. There is nothing socialist or communist about this notion unless you want to twist it that way.
Everybody has the means to the pursuit of happiness. Just because you are an intelligent individual who owns business doesn't you did all by yourself. It is literally impossible to do it all by yourself. From the roads that were built and maintained from people past and present, from the men and woman who protect your freedom past and present, from the education system that has given this country and the world tremendous technology.
Plain and simple there is a reason why you have so much freedom and are able to achieve the things you can.
You (among) others don't understand that the society that we THE PEOPLE decided to build this infrastructure for our benefit, not to be beholden to it beyond what we already do by paying taxes.
And I will keep repeating, focus on this statement:
"If you got a business, you didn't build that. Someone else made that happen."
Uh no Mr. President, the business owner him/her self made that happen by collecting from a commonly agreed upon pool of resources and made something new from that. They really did. NOT the infrastructure that supported the environment to make it happen. Explaining this concept to libs is like trying to explain the color red to blind people.
