Aren't the producers and the 51% of us paying income tax already sharing our prosperity to the non-producers and takers to the tune of a trillion dollars a year?
Your country has a population of 34 million.......1/10th of the United States. Get back to us when you guys hit critical mass. You can lecture us when you have 330 Million people to share with. Deal?
The population has nothing to do with it at all. It's the shared VALUES of the nation that makes the difference. We Canadians have a long way to go toward a more just society too by the way. Most of our First Nations are a blot on our so called compassion. A nation should be measured by the way the poorest members of the society live not by how many billionaires there are.
Shared prosperity was fundamental to American Revolution and the desire to create a society. I guess, it takes a real American to hate the idea.
Actually the Pilgrims canned shared prosperity as an ideal way to structure society when they realized that the layabouts were dragging the whole colony down. It is only when they meted out private plots that the colonists began to prosper. History has to be learned and re-learned. But, as the mayor of Las Vegas said in 2009, Obama is a slow learner. It is an affliction common to the Left.
"A New Vision Of An America In Which Prosperity Is Shared"
Another way of saying "Share the wealth, you didn't make that, it's the government's money not yours, so shut the F up and take it".
We'll see about you in November Mr. President. You are about to be kicked out of your public housing sir! Enjoy being booed on your speaking tours upon your fast approaching retirement.
There are those who support and defend private property ownership.
And then there are those who want to steal private property from the owners.
The safest way to do that is to get the government to steal it for you - - otherwise you might get shot.
Imagine a world where everyone got paid exactly the same, no matter what job they had or even if they worked at all!
Would you REALLY want that? I don't... why even get a job? Destroy the market and everything stops. People lose the incentive to do anything besides what suits them, unless you encounter the ultrarare situtation where somebody is just entirely selfless and only wants to please others. I'd just go fishing... see how that helps the country...

That's just it. This is NOT for those with incentive; this is for those that just want the money without trying too hard.
Those with incentive though will find ways around the system and prosper in spite of the system.
Those that don't and sit their waiting for their "fair share" will be sitting quite a while.
It's already happening and if you don't see it then you really don't understand.
"A new vision of an America in which prosperity is shared." Doesn't our President know that that system been tried and proven to fail time and time again? -
"Do we go forward towards a new vision of an America in which prosperity is shared?" Obama asked. "Or do we go backward to the same policies that got us in the mess in the first place?"
Problem is that 0bama wants us to not go forward or back, but to sit here in the failed policies that have kept us in this sluggish, deficit ridden economy.
Isn't the the same exact thing this idiot was saying in 2008??? And those same morons in that audience cheered for it back then. The problem is that the mess that we are in now, that 0bama will inherit from himself, is worse then the mess back in 2009, because we have $6 trillion and four years less to work with, to turn this economy around.
