Because abortion stops a beating heart - and peaceful protest is protected by the First Amendment.
I would say step 1 would be to ensure that the clinic you are protesting at actually performs abortions, I have seen protesters screaming about abortions in front of clinics that do not even perform them and only end up making themselves look stupid.

My local Planned Parenthood put signs in their windows that say "Local residents have pledged $37 for each protestor here today. Thank you for you support!"

Haven't seen a protestor out there since.

I've had to deal with protesters while getting my annual pap exam when I went through a period where I was uninsured due to a previously existing condition. 2% of all of Planned Parenthood's services are abortions. When you protest, you are likely to scare off some of the other 98% who are there for cancer screening, pelvic exams, birth control, reproductive health concerns, or might even be looking for resources about adoption and prenatal care.

they don't care. as long as they can shame you for seeing to taking care of your health thinking you are there for an abortion instead, they've done their job.

These people are nitwits.

One would think that at this point in time of human evolution, nature would have figured out how to spontaneously abort dumb people before they unleash their stupidity and willful ignorance on others.

While I agree that they are nitwits, even nitwits do have a right to free speech and to protest something they feel strongly about.

I support it *if* they can actually do it peacefully.

After all, I support the right to picket Chik Fil A. I support the right to march against the war in Afghanistan.

I support the right to protest even when the protesters disagree with me.

I agree wholeheartedly.

I will say that I've been friends with pro-life protesters, and that we've had many discussions about how to protest peacefully. Screaming at the women entering the clinic is not peaceful. My friends have asserted that this is how you get their attention. I disagree. I don't think writing down the license plate numbers of the cars the women have driven to the clinic is peaceful, either. I actually know a woman who was savagely beaten by her boyfriend when a letter arrived at her house with a photo taken of her and the car. The protesters had an investigator amongst them who used his professional connections to get car owners' names and addresses. The protesters would then send mail calling the women, "murderers" and "harlots". The irony, this woman wasn't there for an abortion, she was there to get a birth control prescription. But her boyfriend saw the mail and thought she'd aborted his baby, so he tried to kill her.

I support anyone and their right to march and to protest. But I think we all need to think through the consequences of our actions.

No need to get self righteous. I support protest too, just not when it is interfering with the peace and individual rights of others.

Your lack of knowledge of biology appears to match your lack of knowledge of the law.

How does one pull anything out of a gluteus maximus? It's a muscle.
