"Tennessee state Sen. Stacey Campfield (R) falsely claimed on Thursday that it was nearly impossible for someone to contract AIDS through heterosexual contact."

This after Akin's comments a few days earlier.

First I find out that I have a magical vagina - and now I'm almost completely safe from AIDs, just for being heterosexual?? What have the Republicans been smoking, and can I have some please?

SMH....... and I'd be LOL too, if this weren't actually dangerous propaganda.

Campfield and Akin that are probably playing political chicken seeing who can ruin their career or the party the most before one gives up.

Oh no, for heterosexual MEN it's much more difficult to get HIV from heterosexual sex. If you're a woman...well.. women don't count I guess.

It is getting a bit frightening though... I don't know why anyone would vote GOP at this point.

Isn't it interesting how ever since Mitt Romney selected Paul Ryan - the left has been so scared by that they have suddenly become fascinated by social issues? Wasn't it the left who used to criticize conservatives for focusing on social issues - but now we have some like JetJockey above wondering "why anyone would vote GOP at this point" - as if the election is about a single social issue.

It is all deflection out of fear - fear caused by Paul Ryan being named the GOP running mate - because that means that Romney is focusing the election on what it is about - the economy.

President Obama has failed to effect an economic recovery - we are in the Obama recession - unemployment is still high - the deficit has exploded under his administration - people lack confidence and seek hope - and change.

There is hope - we can get change: Vote Romney/Ryan in November.

There are many, MANY reasons why I wonder why people vote GOP. Social issues are a part of it, but not the entire issue.

I'm not afraid of Romney or Ryan...though I am afraid that the American people will be dumb enough to vote for them, which in itself is quite frightening.
