To some degree it is how a good share of businesses work. Some buyers are more ignorant than others. Many companies could not profit if every consumer was a savvy one.
Well he isn't wrong... when you don't read the terms of a contract and there is a penalty involved, yes you could be called "stupid".
But when a business owner labels his own clients as such, their comments may move them into the same category.
Consumers in a free market have a tendency to fine such behaviour by spending their $$$ with a less insulting competitor.
This company institutes policies that allows them to keep ticket prices low. You are to print out your own tickets. Saves the company money which they pass on. People are not going to bother if for a nominal fee they can just get the airline go ahead and take care of it for them.
The only way it will have an impact is for something that will get your attention. Now I am sure people will argue, "yeah, but this much"? I really don't want to argue what the correct fee should be, but rather the problem here.
Nobody (generalizing here) wants to do things for themselves. Print my own tickets out? You are kidding right? I wouldn't call people stupid as much as lazy.
I bet that next time she doesn't forget or refuses to print out her tickets. Was he perhaps unwise in saying so as a CEO? Yeah maybe, but he is right.
I think this, and all the rest of these wiseass cheats, should be taken out behind the hangar to discuss the matter with a pissed off rugby team or something similar.
I believe that highly regulated services such as airlines should have to openly publish an explaination of their cost of providing the service as well as a justification of their prices, fees and profits.
