I'm just saying that inclusion in "Best 10 out of 20" alone isn't a great achievement (though the top, let's say, four, from that list will be 'great' or 'near great' Presidents, and after we've had a few decades for history to assess all these Presidents, I believe President Obama will probably be in that elite top four).
How did he lead us out of the great recession? He has squandered $6T (redistributed it to banks, car companies, green energy companies (now bankrupt), car battery companies (now bankrupt and being sold for pennies to the Chinese...etc.) He's fulfilling promises to the unions, in spite of 65% of the public kicking and screaming about it.

Let's face facts. He was also awarded the Nobel Peace Prize (for nothing) the minute he took office!!! This is a guy who was tapped on the shoulder (by the financiers of the world) because he's a team player. He is allowed to screw America covertly, and in exchange they are skimming the cream off the middle class. He claims to be pro-middle class (what does "from the middle out" actually mean?) yet poverty has nearly doubled; food stamp enrollment has nearly doubled; private sector income has dropped 8% (while public union employees income had gone up 8%); personal wealth has dropped 20%; unemployment is still above 8%; 10M people have given up looking for a job; and the middle class has shrunk.

How can anyone say that we are out of the great recession, when we very well might be on the verge of a depression?

They're literally worthless.
i'm just surprised they found anyone willing to pay that much for it.

This is from the article, so basically they're giving him credit just for being black.
exactly. putting him on this list saved them from the inevitable howls of 'racism' had he been left off.

Very interesting - the difference between public perception and historians' evaluations. Is there an article somewhere that gives more detail on who contributed? Interesting that LBJ is now No. 3 - certainly Robert Caro's biographical series has gone a long way towards a re-evaluation of his Presidency and recognition of his exceptional legislative genius. Now that LBJ, HE was a real socialist! Good to see Ike get more serious consideration, too. I still like Ike.

*shrug* nothing new there. He never beats Hillary in the 2008 primaries if he's white, simple as that.

This is simply a poor reflection on Newsweek. I wonder what Pravda thought of Stalin when he was in power?

I give him points for cleaning up the mess, I just want him to stop talking about working with the Republicans, who created the mess. Haven't heard crazy talk like that lately so that's good.

Why would it put them in melt down mode? It will be good for them. The article said that they picked him just because he was black. This just helps their cause because it reminds people that the only reason obama got elected is because he is black. More likely that they will get a high off of it.
