In regards to President Obama, so far he has not been forced to resign in disgrace, like Richard M. Nixon, nor face impeachment, and so on ... on the other hand we will see if he is re-elected, and if he is the history books will turn in his favor.
Newsweek definitely showed their bias by including the only president to be impeached during the period they were covering in their top ten list.

Newsweek was showing what many Americans were thinking .... that the impeachment of Clinton for lying about a sex act was a complete waste of government resources and taxpayer money.
In other words .... Republican politics as usual!
And also worth noting is that Clinton left office with one of the highest approval ratings of any president in the history of our country!
Based on my criteria of only considering presidents whom have had 20 years pass since they were in office - my top ten of the Commanders in Chief since 1900 is as follows:
1. Ronald Reagan
2. Theodore Roosevelt
3. Dwight Eisenhower
4. John F. Kennedy
5. Harry S Truman
6. Richard Nixon
7. Franklin D. Roosevelt
8. Lyndon B. Johnson
9. George H.W. Bush
10. Calvin Coolidge
Why in heck would you put LBJ on your top 10 list? LBJ got us involved in Vietnam.
Back to the topic. All our economic problems started when Bush was president. Obama promised that we would be out of this mess right now but things are still bleak when we have high unemployment, large deficit and lots on assistance from the feds.
While technically true, it was LBJ who escalated the war. The Gulf of Tonkin Resolution was passed so that he could go to war without congressional approval and he began sending combat brigades in 1965.
The movie We were Soldiers or the book under a similar name if you prefer(I do) was about one of the first combat brigades(7th Cav) in the Vietnam war.

I own the book and have seen the movie.
I think that a movie about LZ Albany would be interesting - X-Ray is only part of the story.
A good book about the first combat unit after the Tonkin Resolution - the Ninth Marine Expeditionary Brigade - is A Rumor of War by Phillip Caputo.
Also - for information about the Special Forces units who acted as "advisors" prior to 1965 - check out Five Years to Freedom by James N. Rowe. He was a POW from 1963-1968. Rowe was imprisoned with Rocky Versace who was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor only a few years ago.
