This is going to explode some brains. I am not surprised that historians are already placing Obama among the ten best. Considering what he has accomplished against unbelievable obstruction and bias is going to give him an impressive legacy.
.Soon we will find , out of those who voted for him last time will vote for him again. Thats not knowable, yet. And if he is reelected only about half will be happy............If they are happy in 20 years I say he was a good President, all we know now is he is the first African President. But Bill Clinton claimed that too. That's a Debate I would watch

What Obama has done is be born with a dark complexion and break what many thought was a iron barrier, but that does not automatically make him a great or even good president. Bill Clinton did more to uplift the black community during his presidency than Obama has if you don't count the barrier breaking. You only need to be elected once to achieve that.
I get tired of people who don't see why Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize. It was because the World saw his election as a sign of hope that America was finally ready to put its racial issues behind and move forward. It was not a result of any great thing Obama did as much as what he represented in American history and it should be recognized as a great moment in time. I'm black and I can say that since I was a child I was told that being President would not happen in my lifetime. I think of my grandparents who did not live to see that moment and I recall the stories they told me of their youth. They had a hard time believing we put a man on the moon and they certainly never thought America would elect a black President. So when I heard Obama won Peace Prize I saw it as America winning it. I wish others would too and we could live up to the meaning of it.

In which case The United States of America should have won the prize. I know there are some out there who believe everyone deserves a trophy regardless of performance, but paaaalease. Now he is nominated as a top 10 president??????? We really do need to raise the benchmark a tad.

Symbolism is worthless when (rewarded?) awarded to a paper tiger who accomplished nothing to merit the esteem. But that sort of tokenism seems appropriately sensible to people who feel righteous about something yet can't be bothered to actually do something about it, like racism, and so go along with nonsense. But then, Obama was seemingly not Bush, at least visibly, and the Scandinavians do have this fashionable thing going on about embracing 'diversity' rather than actually getting to know and accepting people who aren't like them.
Also, the Nobels have hit hard times with their investments and have recently had to reduce the monetary amount of their resume'-building proclamations, so maybe fundraising had something to do with their (ig)noble gesture?

My post was only referring to several references to the Nobel Peace Prize. I think only history can decide the Top Ten thing.

I don't understand how you can say he did nothing? He ran for President of The United States and the majority of his fellow Americans felt him worthy for the office. Only a few people have positioned themselves in life to achieve that. Have you?
