No self-respecting historian would rate a president while he hasn't even completed his first term. Absurd on its face. These historian rankings are largely bs anyway. It's basically a disingenous effort to lever a subjective, partisan-based assessment into an objective, scientific 'ranking.' It's systematized BS.
That's akin to giving someone a peace prize based on what he might do.
Same old predictable reactions from Republicans...it is because he is black. Sad really. The fact is can any Republicans name a Republican that should have been in the top 10 and was left off of the list. Please defend these wonderful Presidents that were left off?

What does party affiliation have to do with it? It sounds like you use that as a criteria when determining the rankings. The list is supposed to be whom are the best presidents of the 20th and 21st centuries. Whether someone has an R or a D after there name should be irrelevant.
President Obama hasn't even finished his term - he doesn't belong on the list.

Did you actually read the reason in the piece?

Picking a sitting president in a tally of best is tricky—history hasn’t had time to put things in a more sober context. But the historic election of America’s first black president cannot be ignored. That a man whose ancestors included a slave could become the leader of a nation founded to some extent in slavery is as much an achievement for the country as it is a marker for Obama himself. Whether Obama stays or goes, his standing as a fundamentally groundbreaking president will remain.

O.k. name me any president that was left off of the list that should have been on there. I only say Republicans because it seems that only republicans have a problem with the list. I personally can't stand Truman.
Based on my criteria of only considering presidents whom have had 20 years pass since they were in office - my top ten of the Commanders in Chief since 1900 is as follows:
1. Ronald Reagan
2. Theodore Roosevelt
3. Dwight Eisenhower
4. John F. Kennedy
5. Harry S Truman
6. Richard Nixon
7. Franklin D. Roosevelt
8. Lyndon B. Johnson
9. George H.W. Bush
10. Calvin Coolidge
I read your cite and no where in there did it say that he was only on the list because he is a black. It did say it was a great achievement to become the first black president, and I am sure that it did. Just think of the amount of people that are against him simply because he is black.
