Obama will meet Myanmar President Thein Sein and opposition leader and former political prisoner Aung San Suu Kyi in Yangon, Myanmar, as part of U.S. efforts to encourage greater political freedom in the country formerly known as Burma. The Nov. 17-20 trip announced yesterday is built around a summit in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, where Obama will meet with leaders from China, Japan, Russia, India and other Asia-Pacific countries. The trip also includes a stop in Thailand, where he will meet with Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra in Bangkok.
What a shock. The US left to look at the empty chair in the white house yet again. Just remember you fools voted for this when you have to pay the piper.
"President Obama yesterday announced he’s jetting off on a victory lap around Southeast Asia, despite a new government report warning the Jan. 1 fiscal cliff will plunge the US into a recession and drive the unemployment rate up to 9.1 percent.
Obama and Congress have just 52 days to reach a deal to avoid sailing off that precipice, when a devastating double whammy of tax hikes and budget cuts will rock the economy and hit just about every American. …
But those tense negotiations won’t interfere with Obama’s boarding Air Force One for a three-day tour of Bangkok, Rangoon and Phnom Penh.Along the way, he’ll meet with Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra to mark 180 years of diplomatic relations, chat with Burmese dissident Aung San Suu Kyi and attend the East Asia Summit in Cambodia. He takes off Nov. 17."
The destruction of the economy will begin post haste.........
"Meanwhile, the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office released a report highlighting the economic shock that awaits America. The automatic spending cuts and tax increase will shrink the already anemic economy by 0.5 percent and cause the jobless rate to spike to 9.1 percent, the report predicted."
First and foremost, dealing with the FISCAL CLIFF is the RESPONSIBILITY OF THE LEGISLATIVE BRANCH, not Obama and the Executive branch. Sure, he can use his standing as "head of government" and "head of party" to pressure congress into taking action, and he and his office will do that....BUT THE FISCAL IS ULTIMATELY THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE LEGISLATIVE BRANCH.

Don't waste your time being reasonable, these repubs don't have the gray matter to figure it out. They prefer to be spoon fed lies like its dessert. The best part of seeing Obama win, aside from knowing that we are doing the right thing for the American people, is watching these people squeal and squirm. It really puts a smile on my face!

Ha ha, I know right. At least I figured that people who post on a politics board would know how the government functioned. Blaming the PRESIDENT for not passing LEGISLATION is just idiotic.
I prersonally think that neither side will do anyhtig but postpone the cliff as long as they can. much like europe has donw witht heir porblem. Kickig the can down the road until crisis is normal i politics. But either the clif or a steep slope is what is goig to happen either way .The slope last much longer i the pain goig down ;jpian just isn't a serve.
Someone said that the "fiscal cliff" debacle has been turned into more of a "fiscal bungee jump". The POTUS already stated that they can immediately reinstate the tax breaks for everyone other than the the top percent and his pen is ready. Problem solved. Have a safe and productive trip Mr. President.

WASHINGTON—President Barack Obama invited congressional leaders to the White House next Friday to begin talks to avoid the so-called fiscal cliff, opening the door to a possible compromise on taxes.
