What a shock. The US left to look at the empty chair in the white house yet again. Just remember you fools voted for this when you have to pay the piper.

"President Obama yesterday announced he’s jetting off on a victory lap around Southeast Asia, despite a new government report warning the Jan. 1 fiscal cliff will plunge the US into a recession and drive the unemployment rate up to 9.1 percent.
Obama and Congress have just 52 days to reach a deal to avoid sailing off that precipice, when a devastating double whammy of tax hikes and budget cuts will rock the economy and hit just about every American. …
But those tense negotiations won’t interfere with Obama’s boarding Air Force One for a three-day tour of Bangkok, Rangoon and Phnom Penh.Along the way, he’ll meet with Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra to mark 180 years of diplomatic relations, chat with Burmese dissident Aung San Suu Kyi and attend the East Asia Summit in Cambodia. He takes off Nov. 17."

The destruction of the economy will begin post haste.........

"Meanwhile, the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office released a report highlighting the economic shock that awaits America. The automatic spending cuts and tax increase will shrink the already anemic economy by 0.5 percent and cause the jobless rate to spike to 9.1 percent, the report predicted."

Nothing like a shock to the system...

Tell the Republicans to forget about any “grand bargain”: The smartest move Obama can make here is do nothing; just let those tax cuts expire. The party's over, and it's time to get serious about balancing the budget. There's two wars and a Wall Street bailout to pay for, and the people who benefited from these actions should help pay for them. Returning to Clinton-style taxation levels and balanced budgets will pay major benefits to Democratic candidates in 2014 and 2016, because it will take away the only issue the Republicans have left besides abortion.
Daily Kos: An agenda for Obama's second term

The Republican Party agreed to the sequestration and believe that best policy is to play chicken with the American economy. No compromise, no tax increase in of discusion. Based upon the statements made so far that policy isn't about to change. Guess what, two can play chicken. The House with their remaining Tea Party lunatics can act like adults and find a road to real compromise or push the economy off the cliff.

He just gave a short speech on the fiscal cliff. Not one new idea --- just more of that tax the rich. Not even ONE spending cut proposed. He's clueless.

The 2011 budget agreement -- which Republicans and Democrats all agreed to -- already contains huge spending cuts. What exactly is your point?

You didn't hear the little speech Obama just gave. Or if you did -- did you see a single new idea? He gloated over the big win and the mandate he believes he has -- and believes there's nothing stopping his new taxes now.

The president has people. Tell the repubs to go talk to them while the president handles world affairs. Obama already spent four years waiting by the phone for a deal from the republicans. Now they can wait on his ass for a change. As stated, you got something you want to say? Go talk to his people. That's what they're there for.

Honestly, I agree. Let the Bush Tax Cuts expire, and the Obama tax increases hit on January 1st. When people open their first paychecks in JA and see how much more is taken out...maybe they will have an "ohchit" moment and realize what they did to themselves Tuesday. This should be a good experiment...do tax increases result in more revenue with no changes in employement or consumer spending (as Dems claim), or does it hurt employement and end up reducing revenue, as Republicans claim? Lets find out.

What's the purpose in this trip? More "free trade" deals about getting all that cheap labor in third world countries for his best donating corporations?

I'm sure it went over the o.p.'s head that the President of the United States of America has a staff..

Or is this thread really just here to rile up ignorant people or scare the ones already afraid of the "revenge" President???
