Didn't they extend that to 70 already for those of us at the end of the Boomer's (born 1962 to 1964)? I could have sworn my last statement said early retirement for me was 67.. full-retirement at 70. Must go find that statement......
I do not call an article that begins as this one does as impartial:
" It's bad enough that we've been forced to bail out Wall Street. But now the Obama administration is hatching plans to raid our retirement savings, too."
I keep forgetting life was just peachy right up till 1/20/2009.

What members of Congress or from the White House were considering using private savings as a way to pay off the $16 trillion before Obama and his Democrat controlled Congress started looking that direction. Yep, that date was the beginning of the end of our private savings accounts. I guess they reasoned that if they could rape Social Security so many years they may as well go after private savings that the government had been pushing so hard for so long.

Full benefit age depends on your birth year. The current minimum age 67 for those born in or after 1960.
Postponing the draw on full benefits up to age 70 is optional and when done, increases the receipient's monthly income, thereafter.
Ryan/Romney called for slowly increasing the retirement age to account for increased longevity and was embraced by Simpson-Bowels.
Opponents to this approach reportedly argue that such an across the board plan would likely hurt lower income folk moreso because so many perform physically demanding work that they cannot sustain.

Yep... just pulled out both hubby and my statements... He born in 60.. me in 62.. And what does he do? Physically demanding work, so I guess we are going to be the test rats in this experiment.
