The country is split 50/50 on gay marriage. If the Republicans adopted the Democrat's position on gay marriage they'd lose a significant number of votes.

And which Democrats are going to switch and vote Republican just because they support gay marriage? Maybe fiscally conservative gays? That's gotta be a tiny >2% voting block...

I think some of you put too much emphasis on Gays and gay issues. What maybe important to gays is not important to others. I could not care less about Gays and their problems, and it it the last thing that I would consider in a Presidential election. In mainstream America I would doubt that many go around being concerned about gay rights.

If Republicans were tolerant at ALL - they would have won this election. Period.

No they can't.
93% black voters vote Obama anyway. They won't change.

Iwas once a Democrat when yopunger but still not in favor of gay marriage.I thought then and still do that marriage is between a man and woman. Gay marriage has little to do with it since its not much of a issue where I live.

Anyway, I thought Romney definitely had the better plan to stimulate the economy. We've tried it Obama's way, and it hasn't worked. I think i'd probably be a Republican if they were more tolerant of gay people.

I wonder how many other people feel similarly. Do the Republicans alienate a lot of potential supporters with their strict religious stances?
This is as stupid as my boss's 'I ain't votin' for no Mormon.'

I am just saying gays are attracted to (handsome) straight males too. So changing attitudes definitely has an effect on their behaviors.
I'm attracted to Shemar Moore, but I'm not going to stalk him just because interracial relationships are acceptable (to most) these days. And if I did go up and tell him of my feelings, I doubt it would matter much to him. Sadly.

So if a gay man hits on you and you're not interested, just say "no thanks, I'm straight." Unless he's a rapist, which is a whole different issue, that should end the whole exchange right there. What does this have to do with gay rights, though? You do realize the gay people marrying now have a partner already, and that partner is gay too - right?

And what percentage of black people make up the total voting population? Besides, this election is over now... and we have no idea what race/s the 2016 candidates will be. So if they really want to win the NEXT presidency, it would at least behoove them to think about what is & is not working strategy-wise. Just sayin'.
