Good for Michigan, the NRA leadership is out of touch with reality.
"DETROIT — The Michigan Senate on Wednesday rejected a National Rifle Association-backed proposal to let people buy handguns through private sales without undergoing criminal background checks.
The Senate instead voted 27-11 for a substitute proposal that makes it easier for people to apply for gun permits but retains the checks.
The state House voted in June for a bill to repeal the requirement to undergo a check before buying a handgun. Federal law requires checks before buying guns from licensed dealers but not for private sales. The House bill also would have required police to discard their records of previous gun purchase applications."
Probably not when you can get guns in a neighboring state without any checks.
Was that the case in today's shootings? I highly doubt it...handguns can not legally be sold out of state. Nor can they legally be sold to someone under 21 years of age. It seems like, once again, gun control laws have failed in the very scenarios they were designed to address.

Yep.
Guess that 'ole Gun Free Zone sign didn't work so well.....
That's the problem, in 2008 the 15 year anniversary of the Brady Bill 1.6 million people were turned away because of background checks, lets say 200,000 were screw ups by the government, that leaves 1.4 million people that tried to buy a gun a shouldn't have, how many have been arrested 1 or 2 maybe.
