Air marshalls also have the luxury to operate in a highly secure surroundings. And the luxury to be one of the crowd, as opposed to the teacher. Arming the teacher can only work, if teacher isn't a sitting duck with gun carefully stowed away. And it just might make the day for a few students if they manage to steal one.
So are disgruntled teachers.
Especially when you take away their bargaining rights and destroy their union
Most teachers I know are young women with a liberal arts degree. They are not likely candidates for trained shooters. They already have the roles of teacher, counselor, listener, mother/father, and part time psychologist. They have enough to do already.
And how friggin' stupid can the gun nuts get? Arming teachers is their solution? This is how we are going to address the issue? Parents are to worry everyday when the kids go to class that some gun nut is going to kill their children and the only defense they have will be a young kid just out of college with a gun? Is this the America we want, where everyone is living in fear of being shot at the mall, at school, going to the post office and having their fate in the hands of some wanna be hero with a concealed weapon? This is insane, people. We need to deal with the real problem which is way, way too many guns in our society.
Maybe they did and the Seal Team 6 was just their cover.

Of course no defense whatsoever is so much preferrable. BTW...a teacher "just out of school" is at least 22, probably 24 if they have a masters. Which is 5-6 years older than the "young kids" we trust with true assault rifles that we send out to fight our wars. And at least as old as those we arm and stick in a blue uniform. Why do you feel that teachers are so much less mentally stable than the millions of current CCW holders that DON'T go and "snap" and start shooting random people? Have any of these "mass casualty" shooters had a CCW permit?
Nice sample size... it worked in a single school of around 100 kids... so obviously it'll work in every school in this country. Are you a statistics major?
