Which country can OP point to that's stayed as religious or gotten more religious since the 1960s and seen dramatic decreases in social ills or doesn't experience them?
In 1979 Iran ousted a mostly secular government in favor of a religious one. It has since become a bastian of economic prosperity and intellectual growth. Oh wait, it's actually become a cesspool of violence and oppression.
Plus, violent crime has dropped DRAMATICALLY over the last 20 years as we've gotten less religious, how do you explain that?

The world is a far more complex place than you think it is. Not every 'evil' can be attributed to one thing. Also, times change, people change, technology changes; the world is not a static place where one thing is at fault.
