Btw, what evidence do you or Moore have that shows that a single gun owner is paranoid? As this is a clinical diagnosis I would think that this would require psychoanalysis by a trained professional. Are you or Moore psychiatrists?
Actually, I would argue somewhat of the opposite with Michael Moore. There are some unresolved race issues. However, those issues are part of the roots for strict gun control. If you look back to some very old gun restriction laws, Blacks were targeted, and particularly slaves. Yes, alot of Americans buy guns. However, if you want to look at unresolved racial issues, look at some of the roots of gun control laws. There were laws set up so that White Americans could have guns, but Black Americans could be restricted from having guns. The idea was to control Black people. In the slave days, the master could do what he wanted to his slaves. The idea of "gun control" was really "keep Blacks in line by denying them the right to self-defense". After the Civil War, certain states tried gun control laws against Blacks. Mississippi, what we think of as a conservative state, this laws was enacted in 1865:
"Section 1. Be it enacted that no freedman, free negro or mulatto, not in the military service of the United States government, and not licensed so to do by the board of police of his or her county, shall keep or carry firearms of any kind, or any ammunition, dirk or bowie-knife, and upon conviction thereof in the county court shall be punished by fine not exceeding ten dollars, and pay the costs of such proceedings, and all such arms and ammunition shall be forfeited to the informer; and it shall be the duty of every civil and military officer to arrest any freedman, negro or mulatto found with any such arms or ammunition, and cause him or her to be committed to trial in default of bail."
It wasn't limited to guns, but to anything that could be a weapon. The idea was to prevent Blacks from defending themselves as a means of controlling the Black population. Of course, when Reconstruction came to Mississippi, Blacks could have guns. However, when Reconstruction ended, more terrorism against Blacks. During the Jim Crow days in the South, certain southern states were enacting laws regarding gun permits. A Florida judge during the Jim Crow era admitted that the laws were meant to disarm Black laborers and weren't meant to disarm Whites. The state of Georgia enacted a law making it illegal to possess a firearm in a church. Why? The KKK was into burning Black churches, and by disarming churchgoers, Black churchgoers couldn't defend themselves against any attacks from the KKK. In Minnesota, however, a state that is considered quite liberal, it was never illegal to possess a gun in church. You can still carry a gun in church today in Minnesota. In Georgia, however, there is still a statute against possessing a firearm in church.
