Homeland security = all citizens between the ages of 17-44, ideally armed.

That is the definition of the militia.

There's angst among the people but there is no enemy. So, no war as far as I know.

More ironic than civil war is uncivil peace.

Huzzah!

*shrug*

If I'm on Homeland Security's radar, they're certainly taking their time to come get me. I've been speaking out against the "Patriot" Act since day one.

My fellow citizen(s), on the other hand:

a) Killed 20 First Graders with an assault weapon, and make it clear that they are stockpiling more Bushmaster's than ever. It's only a matter of time before yet another deranged family member decides to help himself and go after Kindergartners this time.

b) Insist that everyone in the entire nation must carry a weapon to be safe. If I wanted to live in Afghanistan, I'd have moved there, already. I shouldn't have to walk around the United States in 2013, carrying a rocket launcher, so I can be safe from the crazy people who call me a Commie because I see the need for no fire power beyond that of a shotgun.

People who want to shoot their very own anti-aircraft guns should join the military, learn some respect for combat weapons and leave innocent children alone.

The war you speak of is being waged within the Republican party, a party who is behind the times...and don't you forget it either.
You paint (or perhaps I should say "smear") with far too broad a brush. There will be a few extremists and simpletons in any emerging political movement, but I know of very few conservatives and no Libertarians who oppose civil rights per se -- only the time-honored Lefty nostrum of "a quota for every set of malcontents except those who oppose us", and elitists like yourself in charge of the handouts.

That the Republican Party is currently in disarray at present is probably a positive. It will enable a new individual-rights-oriented consensus to further distance itself from the lone nuts and concentrate on the more pro-personal-autonomy beliefs on which we are in agreement. The day is fast approaching when Libertarians will outnumber the GOP's Traditionalist "captive embarrassment".

But as for "consideration for people who have been historically discriminated against" you can stick that thinly-veiled attempt at legitimized thievery and bribery where it is intended to be stuck.

I can think of three candidates for a generalissimo, Beck, Limbaugh, and Palin.

No, not really.

I call myself a Radical Libertarian. I don't fit the mold of ANY known political ideology.
The government is pushing us towards a war by insisting on constantly destroying the constitution in its push to make this a socialist country.

Yet. They don't YET. Oh and they are being tyrannical in plenty of ways. None that you would care about or even see as tyrannical but I doubt you would care what the government does up until the point they come for you.

Have you protested the tyranny of the government, took to the streets any to get this message out there or have you just posted about it online from the comfort of your home. It is always easy to fear the YET, even if it never comes.

In a sense, you might be right. I don't have any idea just how many there are that feel a civil war is coming. But, I do know a former neighbor, that I never would have suspected, who made one comment that he'd die before he gave up one of his guns. He's a church elder and successful farmer. He's on the county board and the school board. He's also an avid deer hunter. If it came to a civil war over keeping or turning in the guns, he'd die defending the right to keep arms. "And, if it came to that, I'd take as many of them with me as I could."

And, while I have no idea of how many weapons he has or how much ammo he has for each, I do know that he is well liked and has a large circle of friends and acquaintances that tend to agree with him. And, it that's any indication of the ratio across the country, it would mean that more than half the people in this country are supporting the second amendment, full force. Civil war??? I don't know. But, I do know that banning guns in the US won't be any more successful than Prohibition was back in the '30s.

That is sad when someone is willing to kill as many Americans as they can just to protect their guns and more than likely be killed in the process and still losing all their guns.
