A new strategy for the GOP - Washington Post

Krauthammer's latest column has drawn a lot of reaction, mostly positive that I have seen. I think he has it about right. Elections have consequences. The GOP still has the US House, but that's all, and even there, won largely on the strength of pop. distribution, or perhaps Gerrymandering. House Dem candidates actually received more votes than R's in 2012.
House Democrats got more votes than House Republicans. Yet Boehner says he’s got a mandate?

In essence the people voted for more debt and deficits. Why should house republicans put their head out on the chopping block and oppose an increase in debt? Pres. Obama, you want it, you got it.

The House Republicans are in a position to stop, block, and obstruct, but little else. And it does not make sense for them to try to impose their will, when the people are not behind them. Too bad for our children and grandchildren who who have to pay the price, but perhaps that's the way the cookie crumbles.

Seen in this light, Boehner is doing a reasonable job under the circumstances.

Good one, thanks for posting.

Krauthammer has such a unique way of expressing the truth.

obama doesnt have a mandate either. a mandate would be 90%+, not 51%.

If the GOP doesn't have a mandate, neither does BO. I believe he got fewer votes this time than in 2008.

Prepare for at least 2 more years of the same.

Obama enjoyed a powerful victory in November. He won by 5 million voters and 126 electorals.

As much as you haters will twist yourselves into pretzels to try to keep from looking at the reality, the figures don't lie.

Four more years.

Going by your ridiculous criteria, no President in history would have ever had a mandate.

Romney got rolled over like a Mack Truck over a banana peel. The Karl Rove "fewer votes" argument is something invented to make conservatives feel good.

Obama has a mandate. Live with it.

Obama doesn't have a mandate at all." His" healthcare agenda( It was Hillary's) had to go through the courts and was snuck around the Constitution. His continued war in Iraq and Afghanistan hasn't won him any support from his base although they are quick to forgive. The economy hasn't done well at all. The stock market has done alright but thats with continued bailouts and market manipulation and giveaways to the banks. Scandals plague him and he's had to shut odwn investigations and cover up a mess of bad deals, stupid errors and shady top advisors. Now he's pushing an even more unpopular agenda on guns that has weak support from many democrats.
Who said he has 51% support? How many votes did he really get, closer to 45%. Voter fraud in key swing staets and in the national total. Electronic balloting has mainstreamed that although its been going on since 2000.
The guys a stooge whos just a puppet of the real power brokers. The asterisk president, never vetted and only kept in power by lies and fraud.
No mandate.

Again with believing things because they make you feel good.

If Romney would've won, you wouldn't care if there were a million asterisks by his name. You just wanted the victory.

Romney got stomped like a cockroach. It wasn't even close. That's called a mandate. I know it hurts...its supposed to. Next time, don't nominate a lame.
