It has more to do with strength than size. The reality is that men ARE stronger than women. Not all, but most. And in this "fair" society, this announcement will mean that the requirements for being in combat will be dumbed down, so that women can qualify.
Plus men don't get cramps, periods, or turn psycho once a month. This is not a good idea.
I hope so......... It's about time females get to find out what serving the country is like.
Aaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggh!
Women have been serving this country from its inception!
During the attack on Fort Washington in 1776, standing alongside her husband John, Margaret Corbin handled ammunition for a cannon. When he was fatally wounded, she took his place at the cannon until she also was wounded.
Mary Ludwig Hays McCauley gained the nickname “Molly Pitcher” in 1778 by carrying water to men on the battlefield in Monmouth, N.J. She even replaced her husband, William Hays, when he collapsed at his cannon.
During the Civil War stretcher barer Annie Etheridge served with the 3rd Michigan Infantry Regiment. Through several bloody engagements, she maintained a reputation for bravery, stamina, modesty, patriotism, and kindness.
35,000 American women served in the military during World War I. The U.S. Navy and Marine Corps were the first to actively solicit women to help fill the gap in male recruits and to free up combat troops for service. Thousands applied for the 300 or so positions as Marine Corps Yeoman, while another 11,000 women answered the Navy’s call to become “Yeomanettes.” They ultimately occupied a wide variety of noncombat duty positions, from radio electricians and draftsmen to secretaries, accountants, telephone operators and more.
Do I really have to recount the role of women in service to the country in World War 2, Korea, Vietnam as what I have already pointed out about Iraq and Afganistan?
All of which goes without saying about the millions or women who have given up their husbands and sons in service to the country
I heard on the news Panetta will authorize women to serve in combat, anyway in positions they have previously not been allowed. Of course this is a terrible idea which will further destroy our military. You can't make this stuff up.
Why?
Aren't women able to make decisions?
Are men superior in some bizarre way?
As a result, the Israeli military, the only force in the world to require full conscription for both men and women, has erroneously been looked on as the true example of equality of the sexes in the military. The image of the Israeli fighting woman, standing side by side with her male peer, rifle in hand, is a vision most Americans believe to be true. Yet it is an idealistic view of a country fighting for its survival. It is a myth.
