Granted this Dorner guy was bent on killing but I hope this is not a trend.
Due process should be done.

Not many up high seem to be complaining or questioning what they did.

Even Charlie Manson got caught and brought to justice and made stand for his crimes.

Well, for one thing, it will definitely lower the prison count.

It was. That's what happens when you go after and kill/injure people that A.Have a badge B.Try to kill people who are also armed.
In this particular instance given he had just killed another cop and injured yet another there was no question he's committed murder with tons of witnesses.
I could've almost guaranteed he would not survive to see the outside of that cabin again and really don't much blame 'em for taking him out.

Even if he didn't he did. I'm sure they'll find a lighter right next to his hand and it will be reported he used the same caliber gun to kill himself that he's used before.
