Other then a moral belief that you might have, you should not be able to use any tax dollar on any individual needs. Is it that much to ask for people to take care of themselves.

Feed the people. Feed the children. Feed the babies. Put a little love in your heart.

We passed the 50% mark a year or two ago.

I think the percentage is 52% of those that pay no Federal Income Tax and that includes refunds/credits.

Soylent Green ?

That statement was just in jest. We can't let those that cannot work for themselves out on to the streets but our Welfare system does need reform. Knowone can deny that. There are plenty of people that can work that don't either because they are 2nd or 3rd gen Welfare families that don't know anything else other than their Gov't handout and how too keep it going or they are just too lazy to work. Those are the ones that need to have their Welfare stopped.

already.

so either it is reformed or it will result in "let them die" - as this is a simple logic to unsustainable spending.

Society can not function if more than half of the populace does not pay into the system, but uses it.

So someone goes offgrid. They may not be contributing but they are not "taking".

Is paying your taxes so that EBT cards can be loaded up each month your idea of "contributing" ?
Being off the grid you are self sufficient but you still don't contribute. I'm just pointing out how stupid it sounds for an off-the-grid person to call someone else a leech when they need to look in the mirror.

Feed yourself and feed your own children. It is not nor should be the responsibility of other taxpayers to do so. It has nothing do with love but everyone being responsible for themselves.

I am willing to try cutting ALL welfare so long as it stops industrial subsides, inflated and unnecessary military spending and any and all financial bailouts. No welfare for the indigent also means no help for the financial gamblers.

My preferred system would be a comfortable level of welfare for the indigent and no payment at all to the speculators and fraudulent financiers.

Exactly! And you right the takers are near the majority now so they can keep outvoting the contributors to continue to keep taking.

If you're self-sufficient, you're not a leech.

If you're willing to pay the higher unsubsidized prices of goods and services, go for it!
