As a person who has a sister going to Florida's public schools, I confirm.

What isn't a liberal town, unless it's Wichita, Oklahoma City and Tulsa. And who would want to live in those places?

So you've seen what education is like in all states and education was poorest in all red states??

No it's not. That I agree with.

Keep in mind that most states are blue states now.

And the nations entire education system has been going down hill for a few years now. All the money Obama has pumped in has been a complete waste with no results.

Just like the quality-of-life for many in New York City is very high. Which is why real estate prices in somewhere like Manhattan are so high.

The list is based off things like crime, unemployment rates, net immigration, etc. And many of cities, such as Chicago, are fairly miserable for a large percentage of the people who live there. Which is why so many people are getting up and leaving.

I mean, some place like Salt Lake City is probably going to be considered one of the least miserable cities in the country(based on these indicators). But if you were rich, would you move to Salt Lake City? Or Oklahoma City? Probably not.... Hell, if you were rich, you would probably rather live in Detroit than in Omaha, Nebraska.

With that said, I do think the list is somewhat important. And I think the most important factors when judging a city, are its crime rate, unemployment rate, and net migration. Obviously, if people are moving away from a city in large numbers, there is a good reason.
I get what you are saying, and appreciate you taking the time to respond in such detail, the OP is obviously undeserving of such a reply. Lake County is one of the richer counties in America, making its inclusion as one of the "most miserable places to live" rather laughable. Where would I rather live, Lake Forest/Highland Park or any city in Alabama, Louisiana, Texas, South Carolina, Kansas, Nebraska, Ohio, Indiana, etc., etc....makes this list a joke. I mean, saying that NYC and Chicago are more miserable than innumerable states with nothing that favorably compares means this list is meant to provide comfort to the FOX News crowd living in a double wide in Arkansas or Mississippi or some other red state hell hole.

If New York and Chicago are such miserable towns, why do people pay top dollar to live there? Why do millions of tourists flock there and pay top dollar to visit those places?

People aren't exactly flocking to Muskogee, Oklahoma or to Pocatello, Idaho ... are they?

Many people are leaving those places.

Living and vacationing are completely different

Also, not everyone can just pack up and leave.

Many people working in the cities earn big money. Its worth staying. Come retirement though, its a different story.
