There's only one reason that a Republican would be chosen to head the Defense Department under a rabidly Democratic President: A desperate President seeking to look bi-partisan while simultaneously seeking the subservient he needs to salvage what's left of a legacy that looks more like George W. Bush and Ronald Reagan than FDR or Harry Truman. What better way to do that to nominate a guy who lack even a single ounce of leadership experience and shares the same negative views of Israel?
Chuck Hagel is a pushover. Even Chuck Hagel is curious why the President chose Chuck Hagel.
Uhuhh do tell how President Obama is a rabidly democratic president exactly?

And you pathetic, stupid liberal morons, Hagel was not qualified for the job. In case you missed it, he absolutely failed his job interview (confirmation hearings). Leave it to Obama to pick the one who just may have had the worst hearings ever. And leave it to you liberal dolts to continue to back everything this Administration does.
Yeah tilt your right HE SHOULD'VE WASTED MORE MONEY AND TIME NOT DOING HIS JOB !! HOW DARE HE ! is that what you mean tilt ? Your the reason why these backwards thinking knuckle dragging dolts get into office. Say good bye the republican party soon to be swallowed up by the rabid anti-intelligence tea party buffoons
Obama could have nominated Ronald Reagan during his prime and the GOP would have blocked his confirmation. Not because of any doubt regarding his qualifications but simply because Obama nominated him.
And that's the current GOP in a nutshell: Good for nothing other than obstructing whatever Obama does - out of spite. What a pathetic place to be in.

It's probably not cave as you suggest, when the GOP found out Obama wasn't going to, and isn't required to testify at hearings on Benghazi, they probably said, well, ok we lost another stupid battle we coudn't win anyways. They were going to confirm Hagel all the time, they {GOP} just wanted to be obstructive and obtuse once again.

You better thank the 4 GOP Senators. Progressives McCain & Lindsey Graham included.
I bet money, Graham does not run for re-election.
Because, heaven forbid, a republican would vote to confirm another republican to a cabinet post in a Democratic administration. You people have lost all sense of perspective and reality. Who did you want Obama to nominate--Barney Frank or Alan Grayson? And yet, the teavangelicals are going to try to primary longstanding republican leaders for voting for another republican....it's INSANE.
If Hagel showed up at your business for a job interview, he would not be hired on the merit of his peformance during the interview.
It is disturbing that any legislator would vote to approve his nomination.
Hagel's nomonation demonstrates Obama's lack of judgement and reveals the despicable memebrs of both parties that would put our country in danger for some covert quid pro quo deal.
It is not the lobbyists that are the problem, it is the choice of legislative picks by an equally deficient electorate.
