All the good members who think theres nothing wrong with the scientists advertising for a courageous woman to carry and give birth to a neanderthal deserve to be considered for
being sent back in time at conception, only to plop out and find themselves smacked into living by the Chief Neanderthal and into the cave. Fair is fair...an exchange student program.
So no nicely knitted matching booties and mitts, no hss toddlers to play with....no nothing...just a swarm of very anxious neranderella's or neanderthals waiting for u to reach some workable idea of puberty. And lots of work in the feilds with your micky mouse finger nails and body...and no wimping out on the hunt because your either a slow poke or can't get up the tree with your funny body and its lousy construction for whatever.
So far it would seem there is no case in defense of the charge.....Once the dramatically manipulated Neanderthal baby is born...it is no different relative to the baby, then kidnapping. Theft.
Oh my gosh. I have understood nothing. I'm serious. Not one thing.

That is odd - I understand our resident stargazzer perfectly.
He is saying that putting a Neanderthal in the modern world would be a similar culture shock to sending adiosToreador, for example, back to the time of the neanderthals.
Except that a Neanderthal baby, like a human baby, isn't born with a culture. Cultural mores are acquired, not innate. So Stargazzer's post makes no sense.

And he would be wrong on both counts.
You're making an assumption that we would "go back in time" with the same consciousness/memories/experiences/awareness that we have now. And that's a load of crap.
It also assumes that the neanderthal baby would be born -in this day and age - with the same consciousness/memories/experiences/awareness that all neanderthals would have had 15,000 years ago. And that's another load of crap.
How in the world could anybody think this illogically is amazing...
Don't pick and choose the parts you agree with while disregarding the rest. For example, if you use Leviticus to argue homosexuality is wrong then you must also support slavery because that is also in Leviticus.

Then how can the resulting child truly be considered a Neanderthal?
The problem is not that the baby might have Neanderthal genes, but that the scientists are playing around with the genes, instead of allowing nature to take its course. I wrote a paper about genetic engineering a couple of years a go that dealt specifically with the moral quandary - except that it really isn't a quandary.
Only the people who think that tampering with the building blocks of life to artificially produce the product of their fanciful imaginations is OK think that the morality question is moot.

exactly. how do you not see this, harrier?
oh right, the religious think youre born with cultural identity, so they can explain away indoctrination. if i told him he was born an atheist his head would explode.
