It's no secret that the Japanese had no interest in building any polants anywhere in the state of Michigan because all of their execs knew the history of how devastating assorted strikes were to the Detroit 3, which is why Honda opened that plant in Greensburg, IN. several years ago to produce the Civic (up to 250K per year), and has recently started making the Acura ILX there.

Tons of cities which have been ravaged by liberal policies over the past 40-60 years, starting with Chicago, which has lost 1,000,000+ citizens since the Truman administration, and has been notoriously corrupt for several decades, just like Detroit.

Toss in the 3,500,000+ folks who've left California over the past 20 years according to Joel Kotkin, toss in a severe shortage of children that is going to demolish the state's finances since there won't be anyone left to pay the bloated pension strangling the state's economy, and you have a real fiscal disaster looming within 20 years, while birth rates continue to rise in middle-class havens such as TX, TN, OK, NC, UT, CO & many other states, with numerous new plants from various Silicon Valley valley powerhouses opening new facilities in those states and elsewhere.

Pittsburgh & Houston have certainly reinvented themselves over the past 40+ years, while Detroit never did, which is why Houston is the fourth largest city in the country, while Detroit has plunged to 18th. since 1950.

This statement in the article stands out as Third World-like "If you suddenly found yourself gravely ill, injured or even shot, would you call 911?"
This is what happens when you vote Democrat. Look at a Republican city like Colorado Springs, San Diego, Bend Oregon and (yes I know it's a county) Orange County CA and tell me how bad things are there.

We have our own Detroit brewing right here in Las Vegas. Not Las Vegas itself, but North Las Vegas, a separate city of 150,000. This city is so down on its knees, just a strong wind might blow it to the pavement.

The Nevada Legislature recently authorized the city to divert funds from infrastructure repairs to help tide the city over, but it's only a Band-Aid that won't last long! The over-paid police are ticketing its residents like crazy to bring in more money, like a woman who got ticketed for her wheel a few inches over the white line at an intersection. How's that for desperate!!!

Tick, tick goes the clock for a Detroit in our own backyard!

As this country, unadmittedly, becomes more of a 3rd world country, we're horrified to see what's become of Detroit, as more Detroit's are on the way, sure as shootin'!

Year Democratic Republican
2012 52.58% 45.02%
2008 54.15% 43.95%

Also, let's meet San Diego mayor, a democrat.

Same thing in Chicago. Not a republican in sight, and the place is total BS and corrupt with 2 governors in jail and the 3rd soon to be.

Detroit went on the down hill slide a long time ago, and it's fate was sealed in 1974 I think it was when the steel industry died.

I was there in x-mass 74 and the place was dead then. I was just with a guy i worked with and he was there for family over the holidays. I am not to sure i would call anything that happened there a holiday.

Detroit is a hell hole because the people that live there make it that way. Detroit's murder rate is on the level of war zone. Half the population is functionally illiterate. Its infrastructure is crumbling. Its city services are a joke. Government corruption is rampant. Huge swaths of the city are burnt out. That is the reality of the city. It's not a false perception.
In the 1980s, Detroit was mostly indistinguishable from Washington DC, Baltimore, Cleveland, Philadelphia, Atlanta, St Louis, New Orleans, and Newark. Why are all of those cities more attractive than Detroit these days?

Detroit was left out to dry. They could get away with turning into a race thing for a while, but since the area is slowly becoming more integrated and housing is available in the suburbs, that doesn't fly anymore. The crime rates are high in Detroit - everyone knows that, but people make it seems like you'll get shot if you get out of your car, which is usually not true.

Only two cities on your list are somewhat ok DC and Atlanta the rest would be as bad off as Detroit if not for demographics.

How did Newark sneak onto your list? Believe me, it was a hellhole in the 1980's. I had to visit Prudential's downtown Newark HQ in the early 80's, amd it was like a war zone even then. The trip from and back to Newark Airport was a real eye-opener.
The other cities all have serious crime issues to contend with, with St.Louis, New Orleans, and baltimore likely the worst. None as far gone as the ole Motor City, though.

So basically, what you are saying is that Blacks can't do anything, that a persons race makes a person unable to have decency. Well, consider this. You would have to say the same thing about yourself because you have said that you are Black.
