The dispatcher never knew Zimmerman was out of his truck on foot until he asked him if he was following the suspect. Zimmerman said he was and that's when the dispatcher told him not to do that and to go back and wait till authorities arrived. Zimmerman complied and was on his way back to the truck when Martin approached him and attacked him.
We know for a fact he was smoking weed because it showed up in the toxicology report during his autopsy.
And what showed up in Zimmerman's tox report?
Oh, that's right - NOTHING! Because the inept law enforcement who responded to the death of an unarmed black teenager chose to NOT have the shooter tested for drugs and/or alcohol.
But still plenty old enough to participate in physical altercations/fights and plenty old enough to cause severe bodily harm to another human being without the need for a weapon.
WHAT "severe bodily harm?"
The only one who suffered "severe bodily harm" was an unarmed teenager who lost his life.
The shooter sure as hell didn't suffer "severe bodily harm." He didn't even go to a doctor until the next day (probably on the advice of someone to "CYA"); he didn't even require a single stitch.
I'm dismissive about a criminal who assaulted someone and received the ultimate punishment for his stupidity. How sad and sickening that people refer to him as a kid.

My youngest son is now older than Trayvon was when he lost his life.
Trayvon was a kid and it is appalling that you think it was ok for Zimmerman to play judge, jury, and executioner that night.
There is no evidence that has been presented yet as to who assaulted who first - unless, of course, you think that Zimmerman is telling the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. And, if so, why?
Somebody has to speak for Trayvon, and to give him the benefit of the doubt, since he is unable to speak for himself.
I don't need to prove when he smoked, it's a proven fact that Trayvon Martin smoked weed and was under the influence at the time of his death.

From what I understand, there was a very minute amount of weed detected, and that based on that amount, it could have been a couple of weeks since he had last smoked. Hardly "under the influence."
