This is the same county that grilled the kindergartner about his cap gun until he peed in his pants and suspended him for 10 days. He brought the cap gun to school to show his friend.
They reduced the 10 day suspension to 3 days. And this was after the parents hired a lawyer to talk to the school board.
This county truly enforces that ZERO TOLERANCE at all ages.
I think this whole "story" is a overreaction. I have no direct knowledge of the school's over-reaction...but there is plenty of over-reaction to the story on this thread.
"He said, I wish I had a gun to protect everyone. He wanted to defeat the bad guys. That's the context of what he said," Henkelman said. "He wanted to be the hero."
The boy was questioned by the principal and a sheriff's deputy, who also wanted to search the family home without a warrant, Henkelman said. "He started asking me questions about if I have firearms, and [the deputy said] he's going to have to search my house. Search my house? I just wanted to know what happened."
No search was performed, and the deputy left Henkelman's home after the father answered questions in a four-page questionnaire issued by the Sheriff's Office.
Principal Darrel Prioleau did not respond to calls and emails seeking comment.
Lawyer up and stop talking to anyone...
Sue them sideways...
Put the employees responsible names in the public as much as possible and smear them...
Profit financially and on principle...
Kid learns valuable lesson, so does anti-American school body...
Because I wasn't there, and dont know the complete truth...I not going to go off "half-c..ked" so to speak and rant a judgement.
Too many times the truth of these stories turns out to be far far away from what is first presented as fact.
So if you wanna believe lil Johnny got suspendend for 10 days for simply saying the word "gun"...knock yourself out.
A kid was expelled/suspended for chewing a pop-tart into the shape of a gun yet you question the validity of this report (insert guffaw)? Of course you would side on the side of flaming liberalism and anti-American roots to avoid the damaging light the educators of this country have shown to our country and culture.
Lil johnny probably got in trouble for just saying the word, everything else nationwide points to this being common-sense, knee-jerk reactions to anything in the domain of 'gun' and its much more plausible than some silly half-cocked side excuse you are arbitrarily eluding to.

That county has suspended others for 10 days as well.
The kindergartner that brought a cap gun to school also got grilled with a 10 day suspension.
The parents got a lawyer to go to the school board and the suspension got reduced to 3 days.
It's on record there that since Newtown any and all references to guns will get a 10 day suspension.
Sorry you don't follow up yourself on these things otherwise you wouldn't be so quick to dismiss them as probably not true and made up stories.
One instance of a lapse in common sense does not warrant termination in my book. Mistakes are going to be made, but we shouldn't fire someone because of a single mistake.

When the "mistake" is of this magnitude and shows this much stupidity, the person should absolutely not be in charge of educating children.
