Americans throw away almost 100 billion plastic bags every year, and only 1 percent to 3 percent are ever recycled.
Plastic bags are not biodegradable. They clog waterways, spoil the landscape, and end up in landfills where they may take 1,000 years or more to break down into ever smaller particles that continue to pollute the soil and water.
Plastic bags also pose a serious danger to birds and marine mammals that often mistake them for food. Thousands die each year after swallowing or choking on discarded plastic bags.
Finally, producing plastic bags requires millions of gallons of petroleum that could be used for transportation or heating.
Your idea is great, but how do you implement your "BRILLIANT" plan when it takes a thousand years for them to decompose and then they are still toxic. I know ...stick them all...yes, all 100 billion...in a time machine and send them to the future for future generations to worry about. Pass the buck and we can fix this...

Why would you use a term such as "emotional diatribe" when you do clearly do not even know what it means? What I cut and pasted were stats/facts...not born of emotion. The rest was my totally befitting response to a ludicrous post.

My use of such stands and is used correctly, as I said... you need to spend some more time on reading rather than spouting off your distaste concerning the issue.
Yet again, you still missed the point of my response.
It is one thing to understand a word, even another to be able to shape those words in a grammatically correct fashion, but if you can't establish context and meaning through the formations of those words, you might as well be illiterate.

I don't mind using reusable bags however often times you buy MORE than the bags you bring or god forbid you do this thing and forget they are in the car so you have to use plastic bags. So either you buy more at the register at what 1/2 dollars per bag or you get stuck with choosing FREE paper and plastic bags.
