Only about half of the people on the waiting list for a lung transplant actually get one. What do you think happens to the other half? This isn't rocket science really.

Well, it's no problem for them jojajn! They just go on about their happy life; no worries until the next viable lung comes along. Which, you know, there is a constant revolving door of.

It amazes me that the posters on this forum that are SO AFRAID of 'death panels' are basically willing to turn medical decisions over to a judge.

Whatever.

So the other half die and it's the fault of the half that get one? That is what you continue to argue here which I'm pointing out is ridiculous.

No, it is the death panel judge who was at fault. The judge single-handedly interfered with a scientifically and unbiased transplant list, even without any medical knowledge. By his ignorant decision, up to four people will not be given a chance. Do the math. Have someone help you with the math if it is too complicated for you.

This girl did not have a successful transplant. Unless you count being ventilator dependent while you slowly die, a success.

So now using your "it may not work" theory nobody should get a transplant and everybody should just die. That is what your arguing now.

No, I am saying that federal judges should not be making complicated medical decisions.

How many more will she get?
The lungs failed because of an INFECTION that she acquired while in the hospital. The doctors are so embarrassed that their incompetence and the FILTH of hospital conditions will end up killing this girl. I would imagine, since this is a high-profile case, they are desperately trying to avoid a major lawsuit.

The type of pneumonia the girl got in her newly transplanted lungs is from a bug very common in people who have cystic fibrosis. This bug is very virulent and can mutate quickly rendering antibiotics useless. It is possible that this bacteria was in Sarah's sinuses and actually traveled via the breathing tube (conduit) into the lungs. Sarah should have had a tracheostomy weeks ago. I wonder if it was the doctor or the mother who waited on the tracheostomy.

Another problem with this particular type of infection is the very high dose antibiotics that are required to knock it out. The dose of antibiotics required could be so high that it can wipe out kidney function requiring a kidney transplant as well.

When are we going to see an update about this girl? Has Fox News shown video of her walking, going home, anything?

It has been over a month since her second transplant and since a federal judge ruled that he knew better than a "death panel" of 48 transplant surgeons and bio-statisticians. Why is not the public seeing the results of this wise decision?
