That dunk was stupid! His head was above the rim!

Why would somebody expend energy to hate a word? Sounds somewhat retarded to do so.
Or is he saying he hates the people that use a particular word. That is silly also.
A word only has the power you give to it.
I'll put it this way: Calling someone who is mentally retarded (Which is not an offensive term. In days past, words like moron, imbecile, and idiot were used freely to describe mentally challenged people depending on their IQ's.) a 'retard' is just plain mean. I'd never do that -ever. But calling the jerk who just cut you off in traffic the same thing, well...that's just different.
Camshaft needs to be retard or advanced.......Typically, a racer will experiment with advancing or retarding a cam from "straight up" and see what works best for their application.
The plants have retard growth........High carbon dioxide levels can retard plant growth.
Distributor should it be advanced or retard......When you turn the distributor to advance the timing, the engine speeds up, and if you retard the timing the engine rpm's will slow down.
You people are pretty silly to think this only applies to people.....how can you ban a word that even has other meanings.
