Building codes and zoning laws aren't necessary to be passed by the government. For instance, an equivalent to building codes and zoning laws, are home-owners associations. If you want to live in an area with building codes. You could either buy property in an area controlled by a home-owners association. Or you could create your own.

The problem with building codes, is that their existence artificially and drastically increases the cost of housing. This increase in costs of housing, greatly reduces the access of the poor to housing. Basically, regulations on housing greatly increases the number of homeless. Without regulations, the cost of housing, and the relative accessibility of housing would be at such a level, that almost anyone would be able to afford some kind of accommodation somewhere(even in a "slum).

Furthermore, building codes, and even anti-discrimination laws, have a side effect of greatly increasing housing/economic segregation. In the past, most neighborhoods had considerable economic diversity. Many streets would have small houses mixed in with very large houses. For instance, in this places where you have no building codes(out in the country). You might see a million-dollar home, sitting on the lot next to the $30,000 trailer.

As for zoning laws. The real purpose of zoning laws, largely has to do with public roads. And the other half has to do with noise.

The basic argument is that, businesses should only operate in areas designed to handle the load of vehicles coming in and out of the business. As well as being in areas separate from residential areas. As to keep the noise away from the neighborhoods.

As for the issue of "noise", I think that isn't really a relevant problem. For instance, some of the most sought-after real-estate in the country is in New York City. In those area where people live right on top of businesses, right along very loud streets. With plenty of light pollution.

And I said before, if people don't want certain types of activities going on near them. They simply need to create HOA's with their neighbors.

Ultimately, if someone doing business near you is driving down your real estate value, you can always sue them anyway. For instance, if someone decided to build a garbage dump on the land next to yours. Sue them for damages.

The only legitimate argument for zoning laws, has to do with roads and traffic. But that is only legitimate as long as the roads are public. Basically, as long as you have public roads, then they have to be regulated by the government.

If the roads were private. Then whoever owns the roads could place limitations on those roads for how they should be used. And thus, if you are abusing the roads with increased traffic to your business. They would probably start charging you more money.
so in other words you would be ok with strip clubs next door to schools and churches? would you also be ok with an industrial business next to your residence? how about this, would you be ok with living next to say a chrome shop on one side, and a tallow company on the other? and lets say across the street is a homeless shelter, would you be ok with that? and lets say the home you bought, had no building codes, would you be ok with exposed wiring? a lack of insulation? exposed framework? minimal framework? minimal reinforcement? a wooden foundation? or better a dirt foundation?

Libertarians have not banned any words or crushed political opposition by illegal use of federal agencies to supress the vote. Differentiate the commies from the libertarians by using the current administration as the measuring stick of what a communist dictatorship looks and feels like.

Bypassing the peoples elected representatives is another communist tactic used by the Obama administration. Wait, you say other administrations did that! You are right! Obama, however, has taken it to the extreme.

Oh wait, then there is the mainstream media turned propaganda machine for Obama which allows him to reverse positions as if there were no such thing as video. Only in a communist style regime would the media protect the government rather than the people.

Yes, I'd be perfectly OK with all that.

Reason, we all have choices in life.

Saying you don't have a choice and you are not living in a free nation.

More propaganda from Progressives to paint the opposition as the enemy that Progressivism is. Progressivism is the new Communism. Actually it's not new at all, it's just been re branded.

Socialism, social engineering & social justice, are the gateway drug to communism.
The total opposite of the US Constitution.
The use of federal agencies to make laws and restriction of freedoms, by-passing We The People/Congress

Who is getting rid of all zoning and building codes ?
Why do people go to the extreme with their strawman arguments.

Have you read the Libertarian platform ?

You're describing an anarchist's view of no government, no regulation, no rules.

Did you know that libertarians don't object to unions ?
As long as both sides agree to them workers can form unions.

Yes ... this is a reoccurring theme. What we have is just more Orwellian liberal lunacy which insists that UP=DOWN.

Forget the fact that the Socialist and Communist parties of America ALL support the Democrat party consistently... this is apparently not adequate evidence for liberals to reach a more rational conclusion. The backward operating anti-logic of the liberal mind is fully capable of ignoring such direct evidence, to embrace an idea that is 180 degrees opposite reality, such that must be done to confuse the ideological position of Communism's collectivist dismissal of the individual, with the libertarianism's position of individual supremacy. The key here is the term "new communists" ... not unlike the "new conservatives" or neocons who aren't the slightest bit conservative.

This redefining of terms and definitions are just part of the process that leftists never question, which begins to explain their individual manifestations of insanity, and how the liberal mind has been trained to process information in reverse.

Nothing seems too backward or absurd for the liberal crowd to embrace ... in fact, the more backward and more absurd, the more likely they'll latch on to the idea. This, you can set your watch to.
