In a recent interview with an Italian newspaper, Pope Francis basically said those people who are "obsessed" with the "gentially related moreal issues" need to chill with that....

I like this pope. he's like the most bro'd down pope since Pope Brad the Chill (not an actual pope) I'll even go so far as to say he's like the Beyonce of organized religion. Who agrees?

I am Catholic and I like him. I wish the church would get back to things like helping the poor instead of worrying about issues like abortion and gay marriage.

Basically he is just pointing out that there are other sins. Not that these should be ignored or approved of. Quite a different thing.

The parts of his interview that I read also showed a strong desire to emphasize the mission of Jesus as the Christ of the New Testament, with less emphasis on what used to be referred to in the U.S. as the Baltimore Catechism Church.

Lol @ "gentially related moreal issues"

Are you sure he didn't say "genitally related moral issues"?

Either way, I think he's great too. About time.

We live in interesting times, that's for sure.

Step 1 would be approving birth control. One of the reasons people are poor is because they have too many kids.

What's the catholic church's message to a dad who makes $7/hour and already has five kids? It is "Go ahead, have another kid."

They haven't said that in years.

They have been quietly supportive of women who chose birth control for decades now.

Just like they are quietly supportive of gays in districts where a catholic church is surrounded by homosexuality. What are they going to do? Alienate their neighbors/community?

I can easily picture Pope Francis toking it up somewhere either now or in the past. He doesn't strike me as a dude that has too many hang-ups and keeps his religion in perspective, wish we had religious leaders in the U.S. that were like that!
