Its sometimes kinda hard to tell a real gun from a toy gun, Unfortunate the kid didnt put the gun down when told to, it cost him his life, with the propensity these days of gun violence in this situation i can see why the cops would shoot first and ask questions later.EG; if you were a cop would you bet your life that the gun this kid is carrying is a toy gun.

Murder? No, they did as expected.

The kid was carrying several weapons that look dead on as the real weapons (take a look). When ordered many times to drop them he refused. He took out any indicator they were toy guns and was walking around with them in the middle of the day. Not exactly bright after a 12 year old goes on a shooting spree at a school.

What should they have done?

The whole episode would have not occurred had the orange muzzle piece not been removed, or if he had placed the "weapon" on the ground as directed.

The community and culture set the tone by enabling child gangsters to become the center of excellence for violence. With that background and statistical evidence, a person with a gun cannot be differentiated as to intention or age.

Prosecutorialy, schools do the same to kids drawing pictures of guns. Good thing they aren't armed.

i have to agree with this. how many cops have been killed because they thought a kid was carrying toy gun that turned out to be real? cops have families too you know, this doesnt happen in a vacuum.

I would need more information before forming an opinion. Such as,

How much time did LE give the kid after telling him to drop the gun? Did they plead with him for five minutes or five seconds? And how far away were they when talking to the kid?

What was the kid doing that required LE to get involved at all? Who called LE and why?

Did the kid point his toy gun at LE?

Did the kid understand english?
