I would suggest that there is just a tiny bit different amount of training involved between being a doctor and being a police officer - wouldn't you agree?
And, Could the fire fighter, police officer etc have chosen a different profession that would have made them more?

Based on the amount of training the Doctors would get paid more of course.

You said, we should not cap what ANYONE can make, a Fireman, Police and Teacher are capped, so are Active Duty Military. These are all social services.
And, a doctor should not be charged with a crime for making a human mistake.
AND, the "millions" comment refers to PUNITIVE (punishment) damages that are awarded - you can cap those
A big problem among the medical profession is the ineffective QUALITY CONTROL scheme in place today. If the profession could make more clear to its members what are the proper standards of practice, there would be a lot less of a fuzzy basis for initiating lawsuits for malpractice. The doctors need to make their quality practices more transparent. Traditional doctors were accustomed to having a great deal of discretion in performing their services. That eventually got them into trouble in a world with so many lawyers.
