Not only socialist, but I've seen her openly call herself "a Marxist." She is not going to get a takeover of Boeing. That's just pie-in-the-sky rhetoric. But I think she could well get a $15 minimum wage enacted for the city of Seattle. The result of that is that teenagers and others at the bottom of the job-skill scale are now shut out from employment. They can't get on at a crap job and begin the process of working their way up. I've also read that she wants to impose rent control.
What gets me is that she teaches economics at Seattle Central Community College, so presumably has been through micro-econ 101. How is it that she is teaching econ, and yet does not understand the futility of price controls?
what you seem to forget is the attitude of people like her. they know that wage and price controls havent worked in the past, but their arrogance lets them claim that the reason they didnt work in the past is because they didnt run them right, and that she will run them right. its the same thing with welfare, and other social programs, they dont work because we are not throwing enough money at them to make them work.

Socialism is a one way street. Once you start going down that path you cannot undo things.
Once you start "sharing" and "subsidizing" you cannot rescind and end them.

Yep, and I am sure that means once Seattle elects one socialist city council member, that now means the entire city is socialist, thus means the state of Washington is now socialist, and because the state is in the country, that means the whole state is now socialist.

People are free to elect whomever they want into office, enough people voted for her, that doesn't make all of Seattle a socialist city, but then again, I do recall people on this thread whining about the two party system, guess adding any third party to the mix is only acceptable when it is a party you approve of.
Again, what power does one random city council member have over every other member on that council? Do you think magically all the politicians of Washington are now going to become socialist because the state elected one socialist city councul member in one of its cities?

She is speaking about nationalizing some factories, she does not have the authority to order workers to 'take them over'. She is concerned for the welfare of our workforce, a concept alien to the right.
