Federal health officials are reporting a sharp increase in unprotected sex among gay American men over the last decade, a development that makes it harder to fight the AIDS epidemic.
The findings are worrying because “unprotected anal intercourse is in a league of its own as far as risk is concerned,” Dr. Thomas R. Frieden, director of the disease centers, said on Wednesday as the figures were released.
Not surprising something so foul would pose such a risk.

It is probably the result of the new ACA / Obama Care law.
They found out that everyone is going to have health insurance now, so they figured WTF? All of the costs associated with having HIV will now be covered by taxpayers.
Come on now, Edward. You're slagging a whole "culture" that enriches us all.
Billions have been spent and billions more will be spent so that gay men will be able in the future to have unprotected anal sex without worrying about the consequences of doing so. Do we want to face a future where weddings go unplanned, flowers sit unarranged, unkempt hair is the rule, and the Broadway stage is a little less fabulous. Just look at all Richard Simmons alone has done for our culture!
As much as I hate to agree with the particular OP on anything, he is right, but for a completely different reason.
There is a huge new disturbing trend amongst gay men that involves them not using condoms in the US. A small sect of it is a niche group of sickos that actually want the HIV virus, another big chunk is from those who usually claim to use protection but either get caught up in the moment or are too drunk to care about using protection when it isn't available during a hookup, and another chunk feel that condoms are a turn off and less 'natural'.
It's a sickening new trend in the community and people seem to not fear HIV as much.
They are pretty much digging their own grave with their choices and I have little sympathy for them.
Despite this, I still think straight people are the biggest idiots when it comes to condom use. No straight guy that I know uses them, and still thinks that they can't get HIV from a woman.
Haha, seriously. What straight single guy wouldn't want to have sex with random girls daily if girls were willing to. Gay guys just get to do what straight guys wish they could do and that is have sex more often.
seriously straight people also have anal intercourse. get a grip people. there are other ways to get aids too. aids like all horrible deadly illnesses needs to be researched and cured. it matters not who or how the illness gets contracted. all people deserve to live a healthy life.
