seriously straight people also have anal intercourse. get a grip people. there are other ways to get aids too. aids like all horrible deadly illnesses needs to be researched and cured. it matters not who or how the illness gets contracted. all people deserve to live a healthy life.
It's sad, the incidence rate of HIV decreased quite dramatically in the 90's after HIV awareness campaigns, but I think the advent of anti-HIV medications caused the disease to lose its fear factor. Still, it is a terrible disease and every community, especially the gay community, should continue to be active and vigilant is preventing the spread of HIV.

One way to stop it is to end promiscuous sex. We can't have that, though, since that seems to be an inalienable right these days.
Despite this, I still think straight people are the biggest idiots when it comes to condom use. No straight guy that I know uses them, and still thinks that they can't get HIV from a woman.
I was listening to "Loveline" (with Dr. Drew) the other night, and they were discussing the topic of unprotected sex. Mostly straight males were calling in, and you wouldn't believe the nonsense they were saying. One guy said "I don't bother with condoms because you can pretty much tell which girls are sl--s by looking at them."
Bottom line, unprotected sex is risky no matter who we're talking about - straight, gay, single, even married in some cases. And if we're only discussing the risks of anal sex, that applies to everyone except lesbians... so from that angle, it is actually safest to be homosexual! Hmmm.

I think this is actually a valid point. HIV/AIDs used to be a death sentence, now people are living normally with it for 20+ years... putting it kinda in the same category as herpes, chlamydia, HPV, etc, where it sucks but isn't the end of the world. And when you aren't in fear of death, the temptation to take that risk becomes much greater.

Absolutely. But if you're going to add "especially the gay community," you should be specific to the MALE gay community... seeing as lesbians are in the lowest risk category. Just sayin'.
It is probably the result of the new ACA / Obama Care law.
They found out that everyone is going to have health insurance now, so they figured WTF? All of the costs associated with having HIV will now be covered by taxpayers.
No... The HIV epidemic among gay men has been in overdrive since the HIV epidemic began.
