So two identical things are considered completely different to you....that makes complete sense.

I don't smoke, drink, vape, drug, gorge, etc. So what do I care? However, I do care if my wallet is tapped to pay for the lung transplant, liver transplant, lap-band, etc of those who do.
As much as I hate Bloomberg's nanny state policies, your point here is valid and to be honest with you, I may side with these policies myself as I pay more for less healthcare coverage.

They aren't identical.

Or as the prosecutor in My Cousin Vinny(1992) puts it, I-dentical!

Maybe that is the source of Harrier's dislike of the word "I".

He was wrong, just as were Vaughn and Shelby.

Actually they are identical in the sense that both are ruled by a judge rather than voters. It isn't my problem that Harrier cannot see this.

Harrier doesn't support homosexuals being free to marry one another either. Harrier supports a limited freedom. He only supports your freedom if he thinks it's something you ought to be free to do. It's ok Harrier, you can admit it and I won't hold it against you because that is who you are and that is what you believe. Just don't say that you support total freedom, because you don't.

I agree with this. Government should either make all marriage legal, including gay marriage, or they should quit endorsing any kind of marriage at all. If two people want legal recognition of their union, they must fill out papers and declare themselves to be in a civil union. That will likely never happen though.

Government should not tell me who and how many I can marry. Marriage should be a religious event.

The reason I oppose gay marriage is that it expands and reinforces government control over our lives.

Being non-religious and married, I say no thank you to marriage being a religious event.

What does that have to do with anything? Does that mean if we throw you in the middle of NYC that you couldn't survive for 2 weeks?
