THAT STARTED.

And continued, presumably with the other scholars Wright cites. Again, from your own link:

Dr. James Cone, Dr. Cain Hope Felder, Dr. Gayraud Wilmore, Dr. Jacqueline Grant, Dr. Kelley Brown Douglas, Dr. Renita Weems, Dr. Katie Cannon, Dr. Dwight Hopkins, Dr. Linda Thomas, and Dr. Randall Bailey.

• These scholars, who write in various disciplines, also include seminary presidents like Dr. John Kinney and professors of Hebrew Bible, like Dr. Jerome Ross. Black liberation theology defines Africans and African Americans as subjects – not the objects which colonizers and oppressors have consistently defined “others” as.

Wright already exposed his and Trinity UCC's racist ideology: "U.S. of KKKA," among many others.

No getting around it, DC... Wright specifically cited racist Cone as founding the systemized Black Liberation Theology on which Trinity UCC's vision statement is based, and he repetitively made racist statements to the congregation. Obama went to a racist church for 20+ years, got married in that racist church, and had his daughters baptized in that racist church. A racist is as a racist does.

Founding? really? Do you often read into things what you want to see?

According to Wright's interpretation, yes. Read it again:
Quote:
"The vision statement of Trinity United Church of Christ is based upon the systematized liberation theology that started in 1969 with the publication of Dr. James Cone’s book, Black Power and Black Theology."
Wright's perspective on who and what started systemized Black Liberation Theology on which he states Trinity UCC's vision is based, Wright's racist statements, and Obama's 20+ year endorsement of the same, are what is at issue.

So all those other writers he cited are founders as well?

Are they all racists according to you, too?

I prefer to associate with people who are successful, positive, and have a good sense of humor. I find that very few, if any, liberals meet those criteria. Most liberals I have run across in life are negatives and the losers of society, both socially and economically.
You don't get out much, do you? :roll eyes:

BTW, the idea that you think of yourself as "positive" caused me to stop breathing for a second there. In shock.

According to Wright, no. Again, Wright specifically states:

Again, I'd have to ask, DC... why stake your reputation on defending a racist?

Why wouldn't they be founders as well?

When we talk about the founders of our country, there's not just one. Thomas Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence, but he's not the only founder? Since Wright didn't use the word "founder", you did, you must have some definition that would lead you to INTERPRET Wright's remarks this way. And since Wright is alive, you could shoot him off an e-mail and ask him. If you don't want to, would you like me to do so? I'll be happy to ask Wright if you're correct in your interpretation.

Did it!

I sent a e-mail to the church telling them that their vision statement was the topic of debate on this thread, and inviting someone, preferably Reverend Wright, to weigh in. Hopefully, we'll have the only authority on what Reverend Wright thinks telling us what Reverend Wright thinks.

You'd have to ask Rev. Wright that. He specifically cites Cone as founding systemized Black Liberation Theology with the publication of his book in 1969.
