Hounshell wrote then that Palin's comments were "strange" and "this is an extremely far-fetched scenario."
"And given how Russia has been able to unsettle Ukraine's pro-Western government without firing a shot, I don't see why violence would be necessary to bring Kiev to heel," Hounshell dismissively wrote.

Did she predict that said invasion (supposing it even materializes as a substantial invasion) would result from the sacking of the democratically elected Ukrainian president by pro-western mobs? If so, that is very impressive. If not, I'd give Madame Nostradamus a solid D+.
Except the most important thing, her premise: that it makes a difference to Americans who controls Georgia or Ukraine; and that it is in America's interest to constantly adopt a threatening attitude toward foreign nations.

Palin the Russianologist!
You realize she was just parroting the neocon lines fed to her by John Bolton, don't you? The former sportscaster wouldn't know Ukraine from Utica.
The trick is not predicting the Russian bear would rise agin- it's in devising a strategy to deal with the eventuality.
Bush II ruined "idealistic dragonslaying" for ,oh, the next 100 yrs or so.
That's why Obama won the last two elections, handily. Americans like his caution when it comes to foreign conflicts.
Come on do you really expect us to believe that Palin used the words "moral equivalence" and that she knew that the Ukraine was a country?

During the 2008 presidential campaign, Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin warned that if Senator Barack Obama were elected president, his "indecision" and "moral equivalence" may encourage Russia's Vladimir Putin to
invade Ukraine.

Oh so it was Bolton who was right? Obama won the last two elections because the US if full of useful idiots. Most don't even know anything is going on in the Ukraine.......hence the term useful idiots.
