Progressive: Make law after law, to control the people and freedom.

Conservative: Reverse the laws the Progressives make.

There is nothing Progressive about maintaining individual liberties & freedoms.

There is nothing Conservative about restricting or taking individual liberties & freedoms.

Yep.

Conservatives try to reverse what Progressives build. It is called regression.

That is why conservatives are trying to:

repeal health care reform
curtail voting rights for minorities
stop gays from obtaining the right to marry
cut back on social social security which has reduced the amount of elderly in poverty
shatter unions that protect worker rights and brought us the 5 day work week
repeal the minimum wage
cut funding to public education all over the country (gives low income children a fighting chance)
cut / stifle public transportation upgrades

I can go on and on.

Conservatives want to return us to the most primitive decades of American society, all while selling the illusion of personal freedom. Excuse me for not falling for any of it.

You should probably tell that to the religious right.

I think of it this way:

Progressive: Make laws for the sake of making laws, often in knee-jerk fashion, because if you're not constantly "doing something," then there's no "progress."

Conservative: Much more deliberate and thoughtful in making laws, because not every problem can be solved with a flick of the legislative wrist, and if a problem can't be solved or significantly reduced by a bill, then that bill shouldn't become law.

Conservatives:

- don't like Obamacare and want to fix healthcare a different way, not by raising costs
- want only legally eligible citizens voting in elections, regardless of their race or ethnicity
- Many conservatives are against gay marriage, but the tide is turning. Support for federal laws, such as DOMA, have all but disappeared. I think mainstream conservatives have already changed from "against" to "don't care" about gay marriage.
- social security is a terribly built program. It needs to be reformed.
- private sector unions aren't protecting workers. They are protecting only the lemmings, typically with seniority, that refuse to accept that the world has changed. Unions are limiting the mobility of labor and are directly contributing to the offshoring of ever more work.
- Not sure many actually want to repeal the minimum wage. But they do see through the fallacy that raising it will improve the economy.
- Don't think they want to cut funding. They don't want to waste money in areas we know will be wasted. In many areas we need to fix the family before we can fix K-12 education.
- public transportation simply needs to justify its funding.

1. Give someone a fish.

2. Teach someone how to fish.

This is like a bad Def Comedy Jam routine from the late 80's.

Unless such a problem is mentioned in the Bible, then it doesn't have to be an actual problem, the right will make laws about it for no other reason then the Bible says so.

Wow

If you really believe more government, more laws, and more regulations increase your liberty and freedom, you have some very serious problems to address.
