Joe Manchin Defends The Koch Bros - YouTube

Quote:
“People want jobs. You don’t beat up people. I mean, I don’t agree with their politics or philosophically, but, you know, they’re Americans, they’re doing— paying their taxes,” Manchin said on Fox News’s “Fox & Friends.”

“They’re not breaking the law. They’re providing jobs,” he added. … “If you’re trying to rally the base, the bases have already been rallied. The right and left bases have been rallied,” Manchin said. “It’s us in the middle that have to start making something happen here in Washington to move this country forward.”

Well, a grand total of ONE elected Democrat has done the right thing with respect to Dirty Harry's libel and slander of the Koch Brothers.

Congratulations, Senator Manchin. Isn't it time for you to switch parties? You are far too decent and honorable for the Democrat Party.

I'm not particularly in love with any group or individual that spends inordinate amounts of money to influence our politics but in this case I have to agree with Manchin. If Reid has an issue with the Koch's spending billions to expand their sphere of influence, he should comparably be upset with Soros spending billions to do the same thing. Granted the Koch's are more active politically...It still should upset Reid in the same capacity if he professes to have any intellectual honesty.

They just don't contribute to Harry's slush fund. If they did he would shut his mouth. Harry should not throw stones with contributions.

I watched a PBS special last night funded by the David Koch foundation.
Those guys give huge amounts to charity. Much more than Harry would ever give.

You have a problem with what Harry Reid did, yet I have never seen you start a forum about Republicans singling out Democratic donors.

Your hypocrisy is noted.

Yes, the family worth 80 billion gives more than the congressman worth 3 million.

While the evidence for Koch Industries tax avoidance is inconclusive, the government subsidies and tax-free benefits that accrue to the "libertarian" Koch brothers have been documented by the New York Observer and the Institute for Public Accuracy. Their ranching operations use federal land for free. Their Georgia-Pacific paper company uses taxpayer-funded logging roads. Their Iowa ethanol plants are highly subsidized by the government. Charles Koch vehemently defends private property rights, but his company used eminent domain to remove Minnesota homeowners who were in the way of his company's new gas pipeline. Meanwhile, the Political Economy Research Institute has listed Koch Industries as one of the nation’s top 10 polluters.

The Republicans have NOT made singling out Democrat donors one of the centerpieces of their 2014 Congressional campaign.

If there is a Republican Senator who is taking to the Senate floor to personally smear a Democrat donor by lying, let me know. I'll be glad to call him or her out on it.

Unfortunatey for you, Dirty Harry stands alone atop the heap when it comes to gutter politics. That's why he's the perfect Senate Majority Leader for the Democrats.

Manchin has stated he's a moderate. So not surprising he would speak up when he sees a colleague being a crazy LWNJ.
