We may not be killing the planet itself, but if we don't change our ways we will continue killing the life on the planet....

science and common sense dont always coincide. and scientists making assumptions based on minimal evidence does not make for good science either. i also had to take various science courses for my degree program, including physics, chemistry, and math that touched on trigonometry and calculus, along with geometry and algebra. i also studied a bit of biology as well. you have to have some understanding of science if you are truly going to understand the hoax behind climate change. there is far too much going on in the natural world to lay all the blame on man, and the geology of the planet proves it.

as for killing the planet, rubbish. the planet has been here for four and a half billion years, and will be her for another 4 billion years regardless of what man does. the planet has suffered collisions from many space bodies over the time it has been around, one of which gave us our moon by the way, and yet despite the damage those things caused, some of which caused mass extinctions, and most of which have caused more damage in one event than man has done in all the time he has been here, the planet is doing just fine.

Where can I get a pair of those rose colored glasses you are wearing?

I did the research a couple weeks ago when this 97% claim was made by a CAGW cult member, and guess what?

It's all bull ****.

The survey was by invitation only.

These are the two questions (of nine total) that were used to account for consensus.

"1. When compared with pre-1800s levels, do you think that mean global temperatures have generally risen, fallen, or remained relatively constant?

2. Do you think human activity is a significant contributing factor in changing mean global temperatures?
"

Then the respondents were cherry-picked based on the percentage of their peer-reviewed writings that were on the subject of climate change (79 in total).

"In our survey, the most specialized and knowledgeable respondents (with regard to climate change) are those who listed climate science as their area of expertise and who also have published more than 50% of their recent peer-reviewed papers on the subject of climate change (79 individuals in total). Of these specialists, 96.2% (76 of 79) answered “risen” to question 1 and 97.4% (75 of 77) answered yes to question 2."

Why would a scientist who doesn't believe, for whatever reason, that CAGW is something to worry about write about it?

It's a simple case of intentional selection bias.

All I can say is that we had better hope that the scientists are wrong.

A degree by degree explanation of what will happen when the earth warms

As I said, you can't argue with facts, so you pretend the facts don't exist.

That some blogger agrees with you doesn't make your opinion valid, it just means some denialist has a blog. People who believe in UFO's or psychic powers have blogs too.

What facts?

Show me with facts that man's minor contribution to total greenhouse gas levels is any more responsible for increased surface temperatures than increased cirrus clouds, decreased cumulus clouds, increased water vapor, black carbon, Earth's orbital variations and solar irradiation fluctuations.

While you're at it, explain to me why CO2 levels have been higher when the Earth's surface was cooler and surface temperatures have been warmer when when CO2 levels were historically low.

And then there's the issue diminishing returns.

I'll look forward to seeing your facts.

I'm starting a new game, called, Weather Or Knot.

Do you want to play?

This is so true.

To be a CAGW cult member, one has to believe that as CO2 in the atmosphere increases the effects of increased CO2 levels do not decrease logorithmically, that water vapor doesn't dwarf carbon dioxide and methane as a greenhouse gas and that cloud density, height and type are irrelevant to surface temperature.

oh please, you are you kind are the ones wearing the colored glasses. you think that if we just do what the scientists and governments say we need to do that everything will be hunky dory.

Wow! Cleared of wrongdoing by the National Science Foundation, the EPA and some liberal universities. I'll bet those were rigorous investigations that really sought out the truth.

That's a bit like Bernie Madoff auditing his own books and telling you everything is on the up and up.

I love it how you warmists immediately latch on like a rabid pit bull whenever a skeptical scientist has any ties to big oil in their past or may have filled up their vehicle at an Exxon station once and you immediately point to it as a reason to deny anything they have to say.
Yet, meanwhile, after climategate happens, when "six official investigations" from organizations who are sympathetic to the alarmist AGW theory, all clear the East Anglia scientists of any wrong doing, you immediately take them at their word and believe them without question.
The hypocrisy is astounding!
